Find out what the normal attire for the job that you are applying for looks like and dress one level more formal for the interview.
My last job everyone wore suits so I went to the interview in a top hat and a monocle.

Medical Sales is the best sales. But I’m biased. Good luck OP.

It's a test - don't fall for it.

slacks and sport coat or suit with no tie.

Coat is optional if you don't have a well-fitting one. Slacks (no pleats), nice dress shoes, matching belt, light colored long sleeve button down with a button down collar. Make sure the shirt is a slim or fitted cut if you're not obese.

I think my CEO would shut down the interview if someone came in wearing a suit. She is trying to change the culture here.

Go in a day early and see what the employees are wearing, that's what you wear to your interview, because despite what clowns like Mingo authoratively say there is no standard for business casual. Each company might have it's own standards, and while it's doubtful you would get dinged for wearing a jacket when the company doesn't require a jacket as part of business casual, you dress for the job you want, meaning you find out what they want and that's what you wear. Some companies even consider shirt and tie without jacket as business casual.

It means no Bow Tie. Regular tie is fine.

business casual is most assuredly slacks and an oxford. You're NOT going to get dinged if you are a decent fitting blazer along with it. That's what I'd wear.

What a weird thing to do, and you couldn't even get into my office to do that if you wanted to. Business casual pretty much goes from slacks and a golf polo to slacks and sports coat. Tie is business profession, and being as it's a job interview he should dress at the top end of the spectrum.
I'm glad you think you are an authority on this despite never having an office job though.

It's considered weird to plan ahead ? And I wouldn't have to go into your office to see which color of shirt that they had you fry cooks wearing dummy, I could just go check out the building prior to my interview and watch you fry cooks enter the building "aha there's Mingo in his XXXXL red fry cook shirt"
Also, I ever said I was an expert on anything dummy. Instead I posted the FACT that there is no standard for business casual , and so if you want the best chance at you know getting a job you should find out what that company considers business casual before showing up.
Also dummy, I most assuredly DID have an office job, Mine just included a different kind of uniform.
And just to follow up, if preparing for things by doing a little scouting is weird, then fine I"m weird.

It means no tie, but I would still wear a tie if I were you. Shows them you're willing to do more than the bare minimum.

If the interview is on Wednesday just wear a costume.
Posted on 10/29/18 at 3:23 pm to dhuck20
I would go dress shirt, dress pants, coat, no tie.

It also shows you don't know how to listen.

I was thinking "when in doubt..." but was wondering the OT consensus
Its a job interview "when in doubt" wear a suit and tie, I cant imagine any place that would hold that against you, for all they know you have other interviews or business that day that require it.

Despite the fact that in most offices you will not be able to just go in and look around, I would be very careful doing this.
I've been to job interviews that were 100% suit and tie interviews where the employees or sometimes even the interviewer were dressed casually. Once I was told it was casual Friday. Another time it wasn't mentioned at all but I could see everyone dressed casually. So I wouldn't base your decision on what to wear off of what you see around the office.
