Coat with no tie is the way to go in my opinion.

However, if you cannot find (or borrow) a coat, I would go with slacks, dress shoes, and a nice pressed polo / golf shirt. I agree with poster above that a tie without a coat isn't ideal.

Good luck with the interview!

Dress for the job you want; not the job you have.

What different color pants are acceptable to wear with a dark blue sports coat?

No tie.

Our HR will have them take their tie off to be comfortable.

OP, if you can’t get your coat altered before the interview I would buy one that fits properly. You can buy them for <$100 at some places.

It's unaltered and I'm sure an off the rack cost. Probably looks like shite.

Yeah, actually put it back on and its sitting right at or above my first knuckle on my thumb. That's cool right? When sitting it seems to fit much better.

Think I'm going with that. Khaki sports coat, powder blue Saddlebread shirt, navy slacks.

That's way to long, but you might could get away with it. What kind of job is it? If you are interviewing at a law firm they'll judge you for it, if you're interviewing at a construction company, you'll probably be alright.

I'm pretty sure that means wear your best affliction shirt.

They said business casual for the interview, so that probably rules out law firm.

OP, hope you get the job. Strongly recommend that after this event you take some time and money and invest in

1. A navy blue or charcoal suit.
2. A sport coat of similar color options.

Either have them made to measure, or if bought off the rack, take them to a good tailor to be altered.

So you want to be a salesman where someone's first impression of you is how you look and you're going to interview for that with an ill fitting coat? Sounds like a bad idea. You can get just the sleeves altered same day if that's all you need.

Nice slacks, A nice starched shirt with a tie and a sport coat. You can always take it off after meeting them, but you can't go out to your car and put one on if they are wearing ties with their coats hanging on a coat rack in their office. If they invite you to lunch and all go get their coats, you better have one too.

Wouldn't be face to face. Inbound calls. Not that it matters for the interview but still.

I may go take it somewhere in the AM.
