It was even better when they just had Bill Tush doing 5 mins of "news" at 3:30 am on TBS, just to keep the FCC happy.

It was great! Tuned in at home and from many hotels.
Twice every hour:
"This is Jerome Jurenovich...headline sports."

no it was always propaganda garbage. you're a perfect example of why this country is hopeless. you're probably a solid person but totally clueless of the world you live in.

That's why people used to call it the Clinton news network.
Thats when CNN and the others started to slide.
When I traveled some in Europe for work I would hear things on the news over there we were not told over here. Realize sometimes the truth is in the middle but back in the day the news would go after both sides.

All the CNN Headline News anchors had enough time to read was the 60* second skeletal framework for each story.
Unless you’re implying the skeletal framework for each story had a liberal bias.
*If that. Most of the time it was 20-30 seconds.
It gave you the freedom to know what was topical in the world of politics, business, entertainment, etc. and to go out and find out more about it on your own without bloviation and hand-holding by conservative and liberal commentators.
I’d venture to guess that CNN: Headline News had among the most informed audience over the major cable news providers...until Nancy Grace turned it into the “missing little girl/murdering mother” network.

I miss national news all together. Especially since Newsy went away on my cable provider.
CNN and Fox went from a Sports Center model of reporting news to a Pardon the Interruption/First Take opinion/pandering model. I have to watch BBC America to actually get any news.

I miss being able to watch the news without being conspicuously propagandized . I watched WWL at 6:00 and 10:00, Mclaughlin Group on Friday evenings, Meet The Press, etc. If I tried that now I'd fricking lose it. I'd rather eat shite.

Always up for a Lynne Russell thread...
And here's a better pic from the photoshoot in your post:

They were much less invested in the hard left narrative back then.
They also broke a lot of news. I went in to handle a flash, eyes-only message for POTUS one night and by the time I got back to the party I was at it was on HLN.

Consider that other countries are teaching somewhat alternate histories too

I remember taking notice of CNN during Gulf War I when I was in middle school. It wasn’t until the YouTube years that I learned about Jericho and his green screen bs, so even back then CNN was a con.
I remember Headline News but is was basically a daily 30 minutes news broadcast on repeat unless something big was going on.

Same thing in Australia the national news had the same narrative that comes out of NY and Los Angeles its like they mirrored each other spewing the same crap almost using the same script.

I used to think that news channels were just that years ago... plain news reporting. With all we know about media manipulation and fake news these days, I sometimes wonder if the news media was manipulating things even back then. Obviously it was way less obvious if so.
