The internet has eaten everything its come into contact with and will continue to do so.

Anyone who has a negative view of the impact of the internet is not necessarily incorrect, however, it's like protesting railroads in 1870. It's coming whether you like it or not.

I agree but also throw in the 24/7 cable news channels. Before then, national TV news basically had 23 or so minutes a night to get everything out. There was no time for discussion panels or beating the same drum show after show all day long. We watched the news and then went on with our lives.

Sure issues were still there and they reported them but we rarely obsessed over them. Today you can’t get away from it and the cable news channel shows keep stirring the pot. It’s not healthy.

Absolutely 100% better. More social person to person contact. No one sitting at home finding things to be triggered about.

Absolutely.

Late 70s and the 80s were a magical time to grow up and the early/mid 90s were a good time to be a young married adult.

Wikipedia is the best thing about the Internet. Wikipedia and Google Maps.

Funny people who ask about this are usually ones addicted to said internet. Go outside and do something. If you don’t think life is better with this much convenience at our fingertips I don’t know what to tell you

Yes. I grew up in the 80s and kids lived outside. Neighborhoods were your social group. If you were good at some mundane task people were in awe of you. Magic shows were amazing because you didn’t know how they did what they did and you realized you never would, it was magic. As great as the internet is, it has taken a lot of mystery and real social interactions out of our daily lives.

Yes. By a very wide margin. Of course, you already know that all the responses to me saying this will basically portray me as a "get of my lawn" old guy. So it is what it is.

The honestly biggest different to me isn't the thing you see most people complain about.

To me, the biggest difference is the dramatic...…….and I mean DRAMATIC decrease in actual interpersonal activity. We may "communicate" more via electronic media. But, in terms of social activity in person and truly being with people, the difference is incredibly stark.

With some very significant side effects.
