OP overreacted, period. I'd step up and protect my dog. You might not. Fine, that's your decision. I have no clue who you are but I'll bet I have more time and experience both training and being around dogs than you ever will. Most dog owners don't understand dogs, and it appears OP is one of this.

So a person who owns a dog, who doesn't have his degree in dog psychology, is walking in the park, obeying the law, and minding his own business, should be threatened by large and possibly dangerous dog and do nothing.

I doubt you are over sixteen with that attitude.

I’d probably tell my dog to sit. Then allow the dog to approach. If aggressive I’d kick. Chances of the dog being aggressive are 1% max. Play it level headed son. It’s a dog not a guy aiming a gun at you

My daughter did the same thing when she was in our front yard with our leashed schnoodle. A dog came running up from across the street and our daughter picked up our dog. Dog jumped and bit my daughters arm trying to get the schnoodle. Unfortunately I was in the back of the house and didn’t get there until the owner pulled the dog away. Luckily my daughter was only bruised and scratched.

Was Rocky being aggressive towards the shepherd mix? I feel like something is missing here

I'm not saying this is a rational decision, but you and I would have a problem if you kicked my dog in the jaw. I understand wanting to protect your dog, and the other owner was certainly in the wrong, but there are about 150 different ways to handle a situation before you kick a dog in the mouth.

Doesn't matter, Rocky was on a lead and under control of his owner.

Play with the open leg wound he was about to inflict when he got between them?

I'm of the belief no one should be obligated to absorb bites from a loose dog (K9 "officers" being the exception).....

Lot of vagina in this thread, lot of vagina. And that’s okay. If you’re like ExtraGravy or that XIV queer, it’s okay, the world has a place for you. Maybe not the OT, but somewhere like the home and garden board, or food and drink. And that’s fine, the world needs people who cook, who clean, and who complain about toxic manliness.

That said, there are some people who can and will just wreck people without a second thought. People like me. And there’s a place for me too, and just because I enjoy reading about sports and events in my area, doesn’t mean I suddenly stop being able to beat the shite out of people. I’d love to be average and not an OTer, but we have to play the hand we’re dealt.

we have a resident in our neighborhood who walks his aggressive dog twice a day . No way the owner can control the dog if he jerks away.

Used to lead him close to SO's little dog. I was polite at first asking him to stay away from our yard, accomplishing nothing I decided it was best for the little puff to go outside with her brothers- I have two Dobies- problem solved

OP needs to get tweenie a big brother
