I was 10 years old in 1984. The music, movies, television and toys were awesome. Living in rural America I didn't want for anything. Seems time moved so much slower in those days. The 80's as a whole were awesome.

Umm actually Van Halen recorded the 1984 album in 1983 and while it was released in January 1984, promotional copies of the album and singles were sent to radio stations in late November 1983. My uncle worked at WKBO and I remember getting a copy for Christmas in 1983 along with a Commodore 64

Shows how much you know:

Eddie Van Halen created the keyboard solo that became "1984" in 1982
1984

David Lee Roth was jerking off to his social studies teacher in 1970.

Maiden flight was in '83 so possible. Edit: JP confirmed

The country was finally shaking off the hangover of the Sixties and Seventies. There was a visceral sense of change in the air.
This to me seemed to start in 1983 as well, the colors and sounds started to "pop". 1982 felt like the last year of the 70s.

I’m the same age and agree 100%. Very nostalgic time for me.

While he obviously existed in 1984, Thriller was out in 82.

I realized the other day that he only released 2 albums in the 80s, which seems odd for someone with so much media presence.

1984 was an amazing year. Good call OP.

The music, the movies, TV, society in general and the mindset people had...great stuff and I'd give anything to go back and relive it (I turned 6 that year).

And yes, I did just listen to "What is Love?" by Howard Jones. tGOAT underrated 80s artist.
