Are you just not capable of pacing yourself on the weekends and having 2-3 a day during the week?

AA is a good start. admit you have a problem.

change your patterns.

you will have to find new friends if the friends you have all drink all the time.

if you are drinking alone, you can beat it pretty quick.

if you have to change locations (like all your friends go to the same bar) then you have to decide if you want to win this or be beat.

I don't mind it. I think about it longingly sometimes, but I don't really dwell on it. I've had my fun.

Campral does a number on the gut though. I got a script for it to help with cravings. Liquor was giving me rotgut.

No, this simply isn't true. Anyone can learn moderation, it just takes self awareness and some times therapy. But when you tell people that abstinence is the only way to avoid self-destructive behavior then it leads to some really bad outcomes.

I'm about to go to sleep, but if this leads to a bunch of people spouting that a twelve step program is the only way out of a pattern of behavior, then I'd implore the OP to explore other options. They're usually ineffective and often harmful.

It would be better to wean yourself off gradually. Cut back on the amount you drink every day until you can cut back on the number of days a week. Eventually, you should be able to quit completely (if you choose to.)

no, just needs to be under supervision of medical staff. A detox Center or rehab should suffice. Hell, if insurance covers it, it is a nice vacay.

Don't quit drinking, just quit drinking so much if you can't handle the consequences

Don't get blitzed...you know when you are going over the edge.

I don't drink Sunday through Wed most of the time.

I live my day life in control, dealing with people and process and family and friends.

But I like life on the edge sometimes, losing control, some unpredictability...makes life interesting...alcohol can provide a catalyst for that for me. I won't give it up.

The last of my drunk friends got sober. I'm the last. I enjoy my cold beers at the end of a hard day but I pound the frick out of them when it comes to weekends. I doubt withdrawal will be a problem but that being said I'm just bored and tired of it. Just wondering what kind of life is out there outside of it. It's been a friend/not so good for a long time.

Most people don't want to drink when it comes down to it. More of a have to drink than want to.

How old are you? You sound like you're young. responsibly will come with age. A real job, a wife, kids, social functions outside of frat parties and football games will help.

If you truly want to stop drinking, go to the hospital to see a friend's child who has been hit by a drunk driver.

Seeing a chunk of their skull missing will change your life forever.

I am so thankful I never hit anyone and that I could learn from someone else's mishap.

I have a drink once in a while but I NEVER have more than one drink at an event.
