This new policy only affects first time prescriptions but hopefully
it is a start to curbing the epidemic

“Walmart and Sam’s Club will restrict initial acute opioid prescriptions to no more than a seven-day supply, with up to a 50 morphine milligram equivalent maximum per day,” the company, America’s largest retailer, said in a statement.

So now a walmar pharmacy knows what's better than your doctor

Actually, yes, they do. Doctors didn't go to school for drugs....pharmacists did. Doctors regularly prescribe incorrect medicines or incorrect dosages. Pharmacists catch their mistakes.

I'll fill their weepy vaginas and colons with my ball juice.

This is stupid.

Heroin/Fentanyl street guys are lickin' their chops while First Responders are face-palming at this bullshite.

Pharmacists have the 2nd biggest egos to Dentists.

Walmart probably sees the lawsuit coming against the suppliers of opiods.

Trying to get ahead of looking complicit in the epidemic

They will tell them they can only fill for 7 days and the rest will be lost, or they can go to another pharmacy.

Not from what I gather. they can fill part of a script at a time if I recall correctly. So lets say a 28 day script, you would get 7 days at a time 4 times. Any pharmacists on here, please enlighten us if my recollection is correct.

What is curious is that if the doctor give me script for 2 pills per day for 7 days, I can fill it all at one time but if your doc gives you one for 1 pill per day for 10 days, you can't.

Never had a massive blood clot entirely stop your flow of urine before? It's kinda like starting a fire, but blood and piss everywhere.

Pharmacist told my wife that I wasn't supposed to take tramadol and oxycodone at the same time. Dr. prescribed both, who knows.

Explain your statement

There is a giant difference between introduction to addiction and to those already addicted.

Opiates are classified CII. CII prescriptions are not like others and can not be split filled. The amount filled first is the only amount allowed and any remaining not taken at that time is lost. Legally the only exception is because of inventory issues and the remaining amount must be supplied within 72 hours. Most pharmacist do not partial if there is an inventory issue.

I’ve had one. Opiods are definitely overkill for kidney stones

If you really want to end the opiod epidemic, just have my doctor serve everybody.

Rest and ibuprofen (to be taken with food) is his prescription for everything.

Pharmacists. That's who. You know, the people legally responsible for filling drugs who act as a check on doctors for all sorts of things from drug interactions to over-prescribing things Also, they're free to do so legally. If you have a problem with it, go get your narcotics addiction fixed up somewhere.

You seem to have somehow lost your fricking mind in the last week or so.

I am a woman but that has nothing to do with the pain of a kidney stone.

Do you know what a staghorn stone is? It is a stone that grows like coral thru the branches of the kidney. It can't be passed. Mine was a big as a baby's hand. The cut open your kidney and break the stone out. You have NO idea of the pain. I peed blood for 9 months, visible blood aka gross hematuria.

Oh and for added fun, during the surgery they did not give me give me enough anesthesia to numb me and knock me out. But the paralyzing med works so I could feel them cutting into my kidney but couldnt move or speak.

But gee, I'm glad you're so tough.

it a pharmacist making a call here using their judgement?

Or a corporate suit with a business degree making blanket policy based on optics?

And based on one blanket statement, you're making blanket assumptions. This isn't a one line policy change, wait for the details. Maybe they will have exceptions for people with chronic diseases etc.

There are a ton of bs scripts written. Whether it be some crybaby patients or doctors who are happy to write....there's a lot of bs scripts. Learn to take some pain.
