Paw Paw said keep in left pocket if right handed so that your good hand was available to defend yourself if someone tries to grab it from your hand.

i was always told to use the back pocket opposite your dominant hand.

I don't know if I was ever told or taught anything about this. I go right rear and am left handed so that logic works for me but I have no idea why I do that.
Keys in my left front, phone in my right front. If I am wearing shorts with no back pocket to the gym or whatever wallet goes in my phone pocket together
