Sorry for the accidental delete.
Have any of you been successful in simply turning it off? Turning off the radio, the tv, twitter, etc, and living blissfully ignorant of all the bullshite?
I am ready, but I don't know how.

Turn off your phone at a reasonable time each night and leave it in a different room. Also, get rid of drudgereport. Matt is a phony.

It’s all propaganda anyway.

I watch the weather, so see the weather chick's butt. Then flip over the Everyone loves Raymond. I have been in a much better mood.

Life is better without CNN and MSNBC's constant rampage against capitalism. And frankly there isn't an outlet out there whose political agenda isn't apparent after just a quick read or view.
American media is 90% political, 10% business and sports, and 1% legitimate. They can't even report Covid data or trends without some political angle.

I've just about tuned it all out over the past few years. I generally find out about big stories on here.

Check international news if you want less biased news. Also logoff this site if you truly want to "walk away from news"

I tried but I can't stay off of twitter
One of the most underrated spots to get breaking sports news/highlights without all of the BS

Never watch local or national news. You'll be so much happier. There's so much that's wrong with our country right now, just carve out and live inside your own little bubble. Control what you can control.

I knew the MSM were a bunch of tools for government when I was a kid in the early 70's. Every segment was about "the government." I wasn't quite sure what it was all about but I knew this "government" had to be bad. Come late 70's as I got a little older it was quite apparent that the media was full of shite. I really went full scale during the Carter/Reagan election. Fast forward 25 years and Fox was a breath of fresh air for a while. I turned it off at least 10 years ago. Only watch OAN a little and Tigerdroppings. Rantingly is not a bad source as well to see what the enemy is up to. Never did Facebook/Twitter etc......

Walked away 4 years ago.... best decision ever

People will fill me in here and there or I may catch an occasional radio broadcast of something, but for the most part, I've disconnected from the news and it's been great. I'm happier as a result. I didn't even realize there was a tropical storm until Entergy text me something about it .
I will scroll through Babylon Bee for laughs once a week, and I usually get a more accurate picture of what's going on from them than anywhere else.

For the most part, yes.
I cancelled my youtube.tv, and even before that, I shortened my time for the news to being no more than one hour in the evenings.
I would watch a morning news show for the simple fact that I enjoy looking at Robin Meade. I could watch that show on mute, but her little laugh made me smile with my coffee. The actual news part of the show was garbage though.
I deleted FB and haven't even missed it.
I refuse to look at anything the Advocate has to offer, digitally or otherwise.
I use Twitter solely for sports gambling info, and since there is none of that, I haven't logged on in months.

I suggest taking the print versions each morning and refraining from online sources. It keeps the process of news ingestion discrete and exposes one to many topics/stories he or she may not encounter otherwise.
I have my local paper, WSJ & NYT delivered each day. It's wonderful reading for breakfast, during lunch & once the chaos subsides after work.
The press is important (The Fourth Estate) and acts as a guardian against government overreach. Media consolidation has watered-down journalists' ability to monitor seemingly mundane governmental bodies (state houses, county commissions, house of reps, etc.), but the work of sincere journalists is important and worth our attention nonetheless.
