.08 is rediculous. I could easily pass all test while blowing over. The only reason the number is .08 is because of do gooders that don’t understand what “under the influence” really us
I know I can drive after a couple beers, but I have no clue what my BAC is at that point.

Exactly. As soon as you start drinking, your abilities are going downhill fast. I would trust the lawmakers having reviewed studies when implementing .08 more than some cheesedick in his trailer hollering about he can drive just fine at .08
Not only that, but the cumulative effect of alcohol and tiredness (most will drink at night) combines to produce an even more pronounced decline of motor skills.

The girl was a 4.0 student, nominated for student of the year, about to start at LSU with a goal of attending law school. Could she have made a bad decision and had a drink, maybe... But going off what her character seems to be, I'm not certain yet she was the one with alcohol in her system and simply made a mistake running a light.
eta: especially the top student choosing to go LSU part

Other driver would’ve been arrested that night after a blood draw for vehicular homicide. No results yet because toxicology takes awhile on the deceased. Speculative, but that is the most likely scenario
And I get it’s a sensitive topic, but this girl could’ve killed her friends too. Everyone always asks why isn’t it the drunk driver that dies when it’s an innocent injured and killed. Well..

agree, so how long to blood alcohol results take to come back if taken from a deceased body? I am guessing they are already back and police are withholding releasing them out of respect for the family, not that I agree with that but what I am guessing

Did you hear about this one in Houma?
Two killed in head-on crash in Terrebonne Parish

Troopers identified the victims as 39-year-old Melissa Stelly and 28-year-old Duncan Prentice. They said Stelly was traveling east on LA Hwy 182 in a right curve driving a Ford F-350. At the same time, Prentice was traveling west driving a Ford F-150 and was struck by Stelly who crossed the centerline.

Just a bigger deal given the attractive level is all.

Will any further information be given when it’s determined what happened?

My wife and I used to enjoy drinking and partying on NYE (and weekends for that matter) but after our child became driving age, one of us remains sober and available for anything that can potentially pop up to account for poor teen planning. It has proven itself to be a good idea a few times.
This is how it works around our house as well

A few months ago Walker High principal Jason St. Pierre was lambasted relentlessly for his handling of another Walker High senior girl's involvement in teenage party culture.
For all the hatred he received for his handling/mishandling of that incident, one can only assume he wanted to protect his students from this kind of tragedy.

Pretty sure he just had issues with they way she was dancing at a party, not at a student at a party

Weems’ blood alcohol concentration that night was 0.0, according to her parents, who received their information from DSPD. Her parents, Nelson Weems and Chasity Johnstone, say that Denham Springs police told them that the other driver’s B.A.C. was .09 when tested nearly three hours after the crash.
They also say that police said the driver had THC in his system and that the driver would potentially faces charges of DWI, driving under a suspended license, and no seat belt.
