The story is the school is going to give this kid a diploma but not let him walk at graduation because he missed a Saturday detention. He says his mom died a while back, he works on weekends to earn $ and asked permission from the administration to wear his work shirt (a long sleeve welding shirt) to detention. He was told he could but when he showed up to detention, the teacher on duty said he wasn't wearing a school uniform and would be counted absent. WBRZ is asking the kid for an interview. I'm sure there are other sides and more details to the story.

Another thing to not care about. Any word on kids arguing with their parents lately?

I was in Beta Club for 4 years. President for 2. They kicked me out as we lined up for graduation to get the diploma.

I graduated with a 2.98.

I'm available for interviews. This is a 20 year part time grievance.

This story will end with someone giving the kid a new truck or something.

Beta Club requires you to have a 3.0 GPA.

The LPSS is apparently not missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Can we just fire all teachers and administrators in public schools and start from scratch?

If that’s the case then who made the decision? It sounds like that person needs to get laid. All of this over Saturday detention, GTFO with that petty BS.

Based on these details that’s a fricked ip thing to do, and the school needs to be skulldragged for this.

HOWEVER, these stories almost always get told with heavy spin to start, and the details come out after the outrage showing that the action ultimately was warranted.

You can’t have my outrage quite yet

I wasn't much concerned with grades but was an A student at a very large high school my first three years. I had made a single B in biology as a freshman. Moved and as a senior attended a small high school, with a graduating class of only 46. Two otherwise goofy girls had 4.0 averages while taking Home Ec and easy classes, while I aced Chemistry and Physics and scored 9 points higher than the valedictorian on the ACT, taking it cold without any prep.. At graduation I was Master of Ceremonies and given a Presidential Scholarship to LSU. It was later revoked because I wasn't in the top 5% of my graduating class as required - by 12/1000th of a point.
