you're justifying stealing because you had bad service? Trash

Was it Sullivan’s? Because they were pretty bad for us on Friday. We made 7:30 reservations but could of simply walked in.

Slow service. Male waiter was a bit of a dick.

I was amazed at how empty the place was for a Friday night. Ringside wasn’t even open

Sullivan’s didn’t take long to go to shite once they parted ways with Leo. He made that place.

Call and ask to speak to manager and offer to pay for wine and apps you ate and tell him what happened. If they don’t offer an apology and comp it they will not be around in a year anyway

The only time I’ve ever walked out on a tap is a bar where I was a regular and was just shitfaced enough to think they already had my card on file and would receive a tip of 20%. That’s an honest mistake that I still pay for, but I’d never deliberately do that shite.

I like the way he deleted his post naming the steakhouse as soon as you posted this.

What a dumbass.

By effeminately walking out of the restaurant in a tizzy?...he literally could have flagged down any of the multiple servers, manager, or even the guy who scrapes the breadcrumbs off the tablecloth into his hand to at least pay for the wine.

Yeah, I'm sure it was a point well-received.

He was there for almost two hours and never received his meal. He mentioned the waiter appeared to be having a bad night. If that is the case, it's no excuse for him to not go check on them or a quick "guys we are backed up in the kitchen tonight. I sincerely apologize for the wait, but I will have it coming out as soon as it is ready. Can I get you guys anything else in the meantime".

From the waiters point of it, whatever the hold up is.. They might decide to order another bottle of wine.. or something else that will only bump up his tip percentage.

At a 5 star restaurant, the expectations of service is higher than going to... I don't know... Chilis. The customer shouldn't have to go flag down a server or manager. If they can't provide, at the least, minimum service then again.. frick em.

My number one rule in shopping, eating out, etc is don’t make it hard for me to give you my money. Unfortunately it seems like that rule gets broken much more often than it used to. If you’re a local small business, don’t make buying from you harder than a big chain. If you live off tips, then fricking act like it when you’re waiting on my table.

Good. I bet the waiter won't be a POS in the future.

This.

We had already finished the bottle, now tipsy after 9, and still no meal. The waiter wasn’t even coming by to check on us. Just sitting there with a bare table and empty glasses.

Yes, I could’ve grabbed another waiter. We had seen multiple tables come and go. I was pissed and may have made an irrational move. At the same time, I wasn’t going to continue to sit there and pay for a full meal seeing how it was a 5 Star type place.

The restaurant waived all payment when it ignored the customer.

Had this happen at The Little Village. Waiter brought drinks, disappeared for hour, took order, another hour. Others bring food out, my wife's is so bad she wanted to send it back (I think salt spilled into it honestly), which is the only time I've seen her try, and this was probably seven years ago now.

Well waiter never comes back, the other wife we're with gets so mad, she picks up her glass, smashes it on the floor. When the bus boy came by to clean it up, as he was standing up, she says, "And can you find out where our fricking waiter is?" I was laughing my arse off. We didn't walk out, but probably should have. Was a 3:45 meal that wasn't worth nearly what we paid.

I tried to call the restaurant multiple times, but it goes to their recorded message and contact info is an email.

I email the situation, and ask if a tab could be prepared, I’d like to make it right by coming by to pay for the wine and app. Left my name and number.

Because they’re closed on Sundays. You’d know that if you actually went to their website.

I already spoke with the manager. He’s aware

I’m sure you did. I’m not bragging about my action, but trying to make it right.

I didn’t ‘dine and dash’ but wasn’t going to be held hostage by a restaurant for longer than I already had. We had other obligations, and frankly...were pretty damn hungry at that point. Grabbed some Whataburger on the way home. What a way to celebrate a special occasion.

You can tell who all the poors are in this thread because they keep saying “5 star restaurant” when classy places are measured in diamonds

I received a response and everything has been made right. The owner informed me that paying for the wine and app would not be nessesary.

FWIW, I do not think this is a systemic issue with the restaurant, we just got a bad draw with a disgruntled waiter. Everyone around us seemed to have eaten and left by the time we got up, and I noticed we were his only table (at least in that section).

It's just a bottle of wine. They won't consider that a big deal, especially given that OP was basically ignored for that long. The wine probably cost them all of 10-15 bucks.

I don't think it matters much either way.

I did that once about 20 years ago. It was an Applebee’s or Chilies or something like that in Orlando.

The service was bad, they got the orders mixed up, food came out at different times. It was a mess.

I refused to pay the bill. Told the manager what hotel I was in, it was adjacent to the restaurant, and the room # if they wanted to send the cops.

So don’t feel too bad. You’re not the first person to throw a fit over really bad service.

In a similar vein. We were at a South of the Border in Raleigh. They got our order mixed up. After an hour we decided to leave just as our food showed up. They apologize and said the meal was on them. We said we had to go and they put the food in to go boxes. No charge.

I think restaurants understand they have to deliver a minimum level of service, or make it right if they don’t. The profit loss on what you consumed is of no consequence relative to lost business due to bad reviews.

As bad as that service was they need to make it right.

Well, I can't say that I agree with that. As far as I am concerned, if you ordered and ate some food, then you ought to pay the price that you agreed to when you ordered it.
