See my edit.. 1.5 hours for gumbo?

I expect it to take longer than a sandwich, but shite.

ETA

Or another example, it took over an hour to get my burrito in a bowl from Izzos which is about a mile from my house.

I have given up on these delivery services because I could have gone to izzos and orders the food myself twice in an hour.

Once it was sold, the original group bailed and started working on another project.

Those same people that developed Waitr are working on another delivery service that will deliver anything for you.

Need something from Lowe’s? Need some beer from the wine store across town? Need some school supplies from WalMart?

I don’t know why.

They’re not making YOUR gumbo...it’s already made. It takes even less time to ladle gumbo and rice out of pots into styrofoam containers than it does to make a sandwich.

Waitr is trash. Food always 1.5 hours and cold. DoorDash has been much better

This has nothing to do with restaurant delivery. But, way to make a post with the sole purpose of bragging,...liz.

I also order restaurant food. Never had a problem. How is admitting I am drunk at 11am on a Saturday bragging?

I’m not saying the delivery services are perfect. They definitely have some issues like number of drivers.

I guess to each his own but I would never order only gumbo to be delivered or izzos. Between fees, tip, etc you are paying literally double the normal price if all you get is gumbo or izzos.

That's always been my issue with these services. Unless it's a group order you are probably paying a 30-40+% premium.

Sometimes I just want to stay at home and not cook on the weekends. I don't spend money on much else, so I guess this doesn't bother me.

They didn't leave until Waitr started to tank. I would imagine they had some kind of non-compete clause (my guess is it was one year).

If I am not going to spend at minimum $50, I won't order delivery. I pretty much only get delivery if I am too hungover to move on a Sunday.

Some people would be paying "much more" in lost work time leaving work early enough to actually fit in a trip to go pick up food.

Waitr is only a waste of money if you make less money on average per hour than the cost of the delivery fee.

That's cool and all, but while I have enough money to afford Waitr, I don't have enough money where I'm expecting some kind of amazing culinary experience getting off of work late on a Tuesday night.

Does Waitr sometimes deliver food cold? Sure. Do they sometimes miss things? Yup. Doesn't mean it's not a valuable service for many people who don't have a lot of time

They restructured their contracts this year. Most restaurants are getting hosed or decided not to renew.

This is true. Don't know what the 2 Debbie down voters could be thinking? They lost about 19 mil in a year and are experiencing major problems. They have structured contracts that forces restaurants to not increase the price of the food much and still pay Waitr high prices. So they want the business to pay for delivery and absorb a big chunk on any profit. In fact the margins are already slim on restaurants and it is a wash dealing with Waitr at those high costs. Businesses are kicking back. They just created competition for themselves in the south. That was a dumb move by waitr.

They were losing money before the restructuring. What do they call doing the same thing twice?....something had to change

We get takeout fairly often but usually from a place within 1-2 miles of our neighborhood. I usually just go pick it up.

This is where the OT ballers can’t afford an extra $7 to get some burgers or whatever delivered

I usually do Liz. Not as much as if I'd eaten in but usually something. Maybe one of us should start a spinoff thread about this

I too have had issue as in the last 6 months. To the point I may not use them again.

However the worst mistake they made they refunded the entire order promptly
