Volkswagen says that it has no product plans for this vehicle. Instead, it's unveiling is meant to "gauge the reactions of buyers and media,"

AWD
276HP

quote:

This move makes sense as demand for pickups grows. A number of top manufacturers including Ford, Chevy, and Ram have all unveiled new trucks in the last few months. Pickup sales rose by 4.8% in 2017, and the average price of Ford's F-series pickup, the most popular model in the U.S., hit a record $47,800 in December. It seems Volkswagen isn't sure yet if it can get a piece of the pie — but it's putting out feelers.

I mean, it's fine all things considered. But that tailgate. Oh my. I couldn't do it.

Somebody needs to make a small pickup again. Even “midsize” pickups are looking like small locomotives these days.

What’s the difference between awd and 4wd?

Also, I think this is a great idea for vw. The restrictions on emissions accounts for whether you have trucks in your product line so this could give them some leeway across all their products regarding emission standards.

Agree that smaller trucks need to come back.

I think with AWD, power is transferred to a tire when needed. 4wd has all four wheels turning.

The actual market for something like that is absurdly small. There's not really much point.

Sao,

If Pat Sajak gave you one on Wheel of Fortune, you know damn well you’d drive the shite out of it.

Funny thing about that 1970's truck graphic.

Everyone reads it as "Sport Truck" when it actually says either "Sport Ruck" or Spor Truck". Look at it again now.

i've been considering ditching a bunch of vehicles, including my superduty, and looking at the Colorado/Canyon and Tacoma, full crewcab, etc., and damn, it's like trying to get a decent F150 a few years ago, price wise, and they look almost the same size.

I saw the latest gen Ridgeline the other day. My wife said it looked like a chopped-off minivan.

I miss the old Toyotas and Nissans.
