I'm in Washington state. But nationwide, over half of the current criminal case load is immigration now. In the SW it's closer to 80-90%>

Yeah if you let someone walk out with $900 worth of stuff in Cali.

Is that a crime?

Is that true? I haven’t been around a courthouse in a lot of years but is it really that swamped with immigration issues?

Being short officers doesn’t mean they have been defunded. Just that they lack officers. Fast food places also are lacking workers right now.. does that mean they have been defunded?

Certain liberal areas directed funds to non policing agencies like your social workers to combat crime.

Same thing as defund. Liberals try to use words to change the meaning if what they are actually doing.

In New orjeans we had a teen murder a teen, get released on bond, and murdered another teen.

Now they are arguing if he should be tried as an adult.

Dem mayor, dem da, dem judges.

Despite claims that Democratic mayors or progressive criminal justice policies are driving the increase, it also appears indifferent to the political party in charge: As Asher and criminal justice expert John Pfaff have shown, murder rates increased in cities run by Democrats and Republicans, progressive and not.

Since when are budget cuts the same as "defunding"?

de·fund
/de'f?nd/
prevent from continuing to receive funds

I would imagine a vast majority of these budget cuts aren't driven by 'rabidly liberal' city governments run by democratic socialists but rather, ya know, we're LITERALLY coming out a pandemic that slashed tax receipts to local and state governments.

Remember when the dems wanted to send money to those governments to help close the budgetary gaps caused by the pandemic and the GOP voted it down? I do. And now that those cities are having to adjust for budgetary shortfalls with no federal help, you want to blame the mayors and city councilmen for the budget cuts? That's, if nothing else, rich.

ETA: "Defund the police" will be studied in PoliSci classes for the next century on how NOT to present your message. Not only do the actual aims of the movement have nothing to do with "defunding", but who in their right minds wants to intimate they're not going to fund a police department and expect to get elected?! fricking retards.

Since most of these cities flat out said it was a direct result of the defund movement. Do you live under a rock?

San Fran and NYC legalized theft up to around the $1000 mark. Instantly, crime disapoears.

They didn't legalize theft. They dropped shoplifting up to $1000 to a misdemeanor. Still bad policy, imo, but they sure as shite didn't "legalize" shoplifting and theft.

Where have the police actually been defunded?

The police everywhere had their knees taken out from underneath them.

When they get in trouble for actually policing, they stop policing.

Hence they show up at the murders target than interacting and stopping crimes beforehand.

Broken window policing worked.

Not policing doesn't work.

Hell they have an easier job now.

But they are all retiring because they didn't take the job to clean up after the criminals.

And some of the DAs in Cali have said they won't even prosecute it so the police don't even bother with it. It's not "legalized" directly but it's not enforced either. Ask Walgreens why they have closed the majority of their stores in San Fran.

Years ago the city of Boca Raton classified a body bound in the trunk of a car with a gun shot a suicide.
