Both acts are illegal.
This man is trying. The liberals don't want it, because they know this is their only ticket (illegals) to gaining control again by allowing undocumented aliens to vote.

Read DrunkenTigah above. Illegals are aware of his service and are counting on it as they illegally enter the country. He's not just randomly finding these people as they cross his path.

I think the kicker here is that he gave them shelter and a place to stay/sleep.
If he had just given them food and water and let them be on their way, it'd be a different story.

If he was just interested in performing a humanitarian act, he would have provided them food and water and then handed them over to authorities. It's clear he has a political agenda and isn't just some benevolent angel of mercy.

For some yeah. For those who are educated or skilled and ready to be productive members of society, it should be. We need more taxpayers to cover the leeches. If someone is going to be a valued member of society and passes every background check they need to, why shouldn't they be brought in?
