this is for the number of folks here that are big sports fans, yet don't venture over to the SEC Rant, especially during this time of year. (There's an ongoing thread there)
I really feel bad for the family. Even as an Alabama fan and hating every time he yelled "Touchdown Auburn", I really just feel sick to the stomach about this. So tragic and it shouldn't have happened. RIP to Rod and Paula and may his family and friends someday again find peace.

Rod Bramblett, the “Voice of the Auburn Tigers,” and his wife Paula both died from their injuries in a tragic two-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Auburn. The accident involved the SUV driven by the Brambletts and an SUV driven by a 16-year-old driver who also was injured in the accident, which occurred on Shug Jordan Parkway at West Samford Avenue. Rod Bramblett, 53, was airlifted with life-threatening injuries to the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he later Saturday night died from those injuries, according to multiple sources. His wife Paula, 52, was rushed to East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika but died earlier in the evening from her injuries. The teen injured was in serious condition and also taken to East Alabama Medical Center. His name was not being released by police Saturday night, as the investigation into the accident continued.
Witnesses said one of the vehicles rear-ended the other as it was waiting to turn. "A 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (driven by the teen) struck the rear of a 2017 Toyota Highlander," (driven by the Brambletts), police reported.
Auburn Athletics released the following statement at 9:45 p.m. Saturday: “Rod Bramblett, the Voice of the Auburn Tigers, and his wife, Paula, were involved in a serious car accident early Saturday evening in Auburn. "We ask the Auburn Family to keep the Bramblett family in your thoughts and prayers.” Lee County Coroner Bill Harris released a statement at 10:05 p.m. Saturday: "A two-vehicle motor vehicle collision Saturday afternoon about 6:00 PM has claimed one life and critically injured another person.
The accident happened at the intersection of Samford Avenue and Shug Jordan Parkway in Auburn. "The driver of one vehicle was transported to EAMC and then airlifted by helicopter to UAB Hospital in Birmingham with critical injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation by the Lee County Coroner’s Office and the Auburn Police Division, Harris said.

Damn. That's absolutely horrible.
Not to sound like an arse, but how does rear-ending a vehicle kill two people in a modern vehicle?

I know Auburn fans are feeling like they've lost a friend
the local radio broadcaster is the voice for and of the fans of the team... and losing that person is like losing a big voice in your life
thoughts are with you Auburn fans

Not sure, but I bet he was texting and never even touched his brakes. So sad.

Must have slammed into the back of them at a pretty high speed is all I can think. Kid could have been on his cell phone like another poster said.
Absolutely awful. Prayers for both families involved and for the Auburn family

No alcohol involved, so it just sounds like a tragic accident with an inexperienced driver. I feel bad for the kid and I feel bad for the family of those who died.

Yep likely texting & driving as you guys posted. Very strange this kid didn’t die on impact yet the other two died from being rear ended as other poster questioned.
Prayers to family and entire Auburn family.

If the rear-ended vehicle is pushed into/under a log truck or dump truck in front of it.

Terrible. My sympathies to everyone touched.

That would make it a 3 car accident.

And I read he died from a closed trauma to the head, while she died of internal injuries.
They had to have been in a tiny car. Just a terrible situation for all involved. Can't imagine the pain the families of all involved are dealing with.
Well nevermind. See they were in a Highlander. Kid must have been flying.

Terrible news.
Why do I suspect distracted driving (texting)?

From the looks of that intersection, the kid must have been hauling arse AND looking at his phone.

Do toxicology take longer to return results on marijuana? Is that (possible) factor routinely run/ ruled out/ reported?

Buddy of mine that lives in Auburn said Rod's vehicle rolled over 3 times after being hit.
