Wrong. Atlanta is now almost 60% white. The last 15 years the intown population has gentrified substantially.

Atlanta is 39% white. The city of Atlanta hasn’t been 60% white since 1940.

The Atlanta metro area is 55% white but that’s not what this thread is about.

Atlanta has its problems for sure and it is overpopulated, but being so delusional as to think that it is worse than that swampy, nationally irrelevant shithole known as NOLA is laughable and sad.

What part did you go to? Went to a Braves game last month.
Next day we meandered around downtown, went back to College football HOF, did the Coke tour, and went to the Fernbank Science Center.

Never felt unsafe and would visit Atlanta every day and twice on Sunday over New Orleans

Seems like you might be a pussy

why are you lying on Al Gore’s internet?

Atlanta’s entire image, much like New Orleans’, is thugs, hellcats, “brunch”, and rap music.

As someone who has been pretty much all over the country the past 6 years or so, this is 100% correct. Especially in COVID times.

My stepson has been living in Midtown for the past year. He loves it. We went to see him a few weekends ago and had a great time. We went to Little Five Points, Krog St Market and other places on the Beltline, and the Doll's Head Trail. I would never live there, and the traffic is stupid bad. But to call it a shithole is a completely wrong take.

absolutely dumps on NOLA and even comparing the two laughable. My in-laws are all from South Louisiana, and every time they visit us here they comment on how much nicer it is.

I love when people not from NOLA assume all of South LA is New Orleans.

I’m not picking on you, it’s just hilarious how often I see comments like this. “My brother in law hates living in NOLA” Meanwhile BIL actually lives in Morgan City.

Atlanta is immeasurably better than any city in Louisiana

If I never have to even pass through Atlanta again, that would make me a very happy man.

The wife and I traveled through Atlanta a couple years ago on the way to a memorial for her younger brother who suddenly died of a heart attack.

frick that entire interstate system that makes getting through Atlanta one of the most miserable driving experiences I've ever had.

In this thread you have people not from Atlanta saying it’s terrible and people from Atlanta saying it’s great. The answer lies somewhere in between in that it’s pretty average just like most other large American cities.

Atlanta has gotten a lot worse, but it's not anywhere in the realm of how bad NOLA is though.

My bias makes me give NOLA the better food though. Atlanta still has some great spots to eat.

Born and raised in Atlanta metro. Moved back about 10 years ago. It’s definitely different from when I grew up. Some for the better and some for the worse but I love it

DT has and always will be a shithole. I thought this was pretty common knowledge. They say some new tech investors are going to try a redevelop downtown. I’ll believe it when I see it. Castleberry Hill could be awesome.

You also have people confusing different parts of town. Midtown is fairly nice & safe. Downtown sucks. Always has.

People going to a city for 3 day work event probably shouldn’t judge the whole city

Even marginal areas like East Atlanta Village and Summer Hill and even Vine City (thats right, I said it) are nicer and safer in 2024 than they were in 1984

Summerhill has done a complete 180. Hell, they just opened a Publix there at the end of last summer. A block from Old Turner Field.

PREACH!

A lot of people on here have never ventured outside of their own little bubble.

You are correct. I had the demos for the metro area and the city flipped. Thanks.

Blacks make up 46.7%, Hispanics 6% and Asian 4.5%. So that does back up my point earlier ITT that the Atlanta City Limits are no longer majority-minority. It's not the "chocolate" city a lot of people on here think it is.
