so, how do they decide who to drag off of the plane?

They had a computer randomly select people from the manifest.

But did he at least get the voucher if he didn't volunteer for it?

Jesus. Why not ask for volunteers?

Apparently they did several times, even doubling the payout from $400 to $800. When no one volunteered, they randomly selected passengers. The problem is this guy is a doctor who claims he needed to be in Louisville in the morning.

This happened on a United Denver to Houston flight I was on a couple years ago. The people they randomly chose caused a scene, not as bad as that but there was a lot of yelling and cursing. United sucks dick

Well that was the most annoying woman I've ever had the displeasure of hearing. And what's up with the cellphone video culture nowadays? Why does everyone had to video everything? It's like, "I'm gonna show those people and record what's happening." Sweet, I guess.

horseshite:

Passengers were allowed to board the flight, Bridges said, and once the flight was filled those on the plane were told that four people needed to give up their seats to stand-by United employees that needed to be in Louisville on Monday for a flight.

Did they randomly select 4 people to kick off?

I've been on planes where this has happened several times and people always volunteer when the offer gets awesome. $800 voucher per person and a hotel stay and my wife and I would've run off the plane

United is supposed to keep going up in $$ until they get enough volunteers. If the plane had more than 60 seats, this will count as an involuntary denied boarding (IDB) for each of those 4 passengers. That mean's they'll get 200%-400% of their ticket fare since the next flight was over 3 1/2 hours later so if it was a $200 ticket, somewhere between $400-$800 is owed.

quote:

Compensation shall be 200% of the fare to the passenger's destination or first stopover, with a maximum of $675, if the carrier offers alternate transportation that, at the time the arrangement is made, is planned to arrive at the airport of the passenger's first stopover, or if not, the airport of the passenger's final destination more than one hour but less than four hours after the planned arrival time of the passenger's original flight; and

Compensation shall be 400% of the fare to the passenger's destination or first stopover, with a maximum of $1,350, if the carrier does not offer alternate transportation that, at the time the arrangement is made, is planned to arrive at the airport of the passenger's first stopover, or if not, the airport of the passenger's final destination less than four hours after the planned arrival time of the passenger's original flight.
