The median age for armed robbery is 18. Burglary is 16, Theft/shoplifting is 14.
At 12 years old, this kid is extremely advanced to not only rob others at gunpoint, but pull the trigger as well.
Trigger pullers during armed robbery are also rare when compared to all others committing armed robberies.
Without complete and total intervention supported by very responsible parents, this kid will graduate to homicide in a few short years.
Juvenile justice will not slow him down much. His growing list of victims will feel frustration when he returns to his old habits after being repeatedly released after arrest.
I wouldn't be surprised if vigilante justice/the streets took him out as he advances. I have seen this movie before a few times.

My thought is that if a juvenile commits a felony, the parent can make a choice. The parent can serve time and their kid will be charged as a juvenile. If the parent chooses not to serve jail time, then the kid will be charged as an adult. Put the responsibility back on the parents.
