What's amazing is that this dude was never convicted of a felon (assuming since he has an open carry).

But what I am saying is that shooting someone unarmed, then putting 3 bullets in his back as he is walking away, is a HUGE gamble that I would never take.
I like to think I would be the same, but if I'm pulling the trigger once, I'm dumping the magazine. If tempers/fears are high enough to kill someone - you have no idea how you'll react in that situation.

I wouldn't in their back. But that might be just me.

Maybe, maybe not. I think for most people this is a hypothetical situation. If you've committed to shooting someone, I think you've gone over into a different realm of self-defense.
Note: I'm not saying you would shoot someone in the back. You very well may have the restraint it takes in that moment to stop and evaluate. I just think that is something we probably will never know.
Who knows? You may have the wherewithal to subdue him, or you may get shot thinking the threat is over.
My thinking is that if I'm shooting once, I'm shooting until he stops moving or the magazine is empty.

Amazing to me that the dude showed ZERO remorse for killing a man
That's a prime example when someone is full of hate.
What amazes me more is the fact that the driver took the time to back up to confront the shooter. Pretty stupid move, honestly.
And it amazes me more that someone is so blind at what's to come, which involves the heat of an argument, that you are failing to rationalize that the rest of your life will be in jail starting from that precise moment on.

On the drunk in public charge, the arresting officer, who I had literally known all my life, you know what I mean? This guy lived four doors down from me in a town of less than 400 people. We've met.

That looks like there is a history between those two. Those two didn’t just meet.

quote:20 years ago I was that guy that asked people to slow down, confronted them with out any fear. I never was a screaming a-hole, but did explain the fact that they were in a neighborhood and to please be more careful.
This just shows you how people get killed and go to jail for the stupidest things.
Nowadays, I dont even honk at anyone that is driving stupid. You could be shot. Yes, that person may pay a penalty, but you may be dead.

You are 100% correct, full disclosure, as a parent, it does piss me off to see assholes driving 50 mph through a neighborhood.

That shooter must be extremely unintelligent.
Intelligence isn't just about getting As in math class. It's a prerequisite for empathy and it affects decision-making.

quote:I think this is correct. And I suppose a case could be made that the guy was heading to get his own gun, but if I am on the jury with no other information than what is on that tape, the shooter had better present some damn strong evidence....a past threat, a known history of the dead man doing something crazy.
My thinking is that if I'm shooting once, I'm shooting until he stops moving or the magazine is empty.

Not to mention taunting him as he walks by his bullet filled body. What a pos.

What's interesting to me is that in the absence of a video tape it would simply be one man's word against a dead man.
It would be easy for him to say he "feared for his life" when the guy backed up, got out of his running vehicle, and confronted him. (Minding his own business.)
No telling how many people have been killed in similar situations of "self-defense."

Who backs up to confront someone that yells to slow down?
I live in a residential neighborhood that some people cut through to avoid traffic lights on the main streets. The speed limit is 25 and people are always speeding down the street, so much so that we did a speed study and got speed lumps installed on the road. Anyway, my wife and I were walking our daughter around the neighborhood and we stopped to talk to a neighbor, well this douche comes flying down the street at probably 40 miles an hour. I yelled for him to slow down and he stopped at the stop sign at the end of my street and put his truck in reverse to come ask if I had a problem. fricking douche, yeah I have a problem stop speeding down my road. He denied it and left. I have no idea what his end game was, why would you confront someone who is telling you to stop speeding in a residential neighborhood? What are you going to get out of that altercation?

There's something about putting people behind the wheel of a vehicle that inflates ego and decreases patience. I'm sure someone has studied the psychology of it, but it's kind of fascinating. How many "nice" people have turned into raging assholes behind the wheel of a vehicle?
