We're all wired differently. Like you, I've been on several painkillers due to injury, but I've never had a problem getting off them. I can't even remember the last time I took one. I've had 2 close friends, however, that got very addicted and died from overdoses.

The best part about this is that the settlement does not exempt the Sackler family from being criminally charged. That will hopefully come soon.

If a pharmacy was so hell bent against Purdue’s practices they could have said sorry we don’t fill that here.

Maybe because surgery isn’t a disease that requires medicine? I bet my cousin wishes he could have surgery to fix his fibromyalgia but it’s so bad they can’t just cut it out. You should see him on his flare ups when he has to go around town to all the pharmacies begging the pharmacists to fill his prescription

All meds like that cause constipation and most don’t work as well as people say. I have had every one out there and the only one that worked for me in a pill form was dilauded. And that wasn’t very effective. Now having it injected is a different story.

OxyContin isn’t addictive when you have a real disease that requires it just to function. My cousin has fibromyalgia and has been on OxyContin for a while because that’s what works best. When he has his medicine he’s healthy but when he doesn’t his disease debilitates him. He can barely get out of bed, he’s nauseated, sweats all the time, has diarrhea. Maybe you should see first hand someone with a terrible disease before you sue the only company that makes a drug that effectively treats it
Grade A, USDA Prime.

lol $8 billion - drop in the bucket from what they made and the cost of the damage they have done by knowingly market a highly addictive opiod as non-addictive and facilitating massive over-prescription. Many doctors and gov't agencies are also at fault.

What is funny about your troll is people with "fibromyalgia" (ie those for whom everything else has been ruled out) almost always have reduced binding ability for opioids. They have reduced MOR in the nucleus accumbens, the anterior cingulate, and the amygdala.

Trust me. Dan does not see this as a victory at all. The Sacklers should all be rotting under a jail somewhere!

Our AG flat out said this settlement is weak. She wants the Sacklers to be absolutely crushed, and I’m all for it.

Kinda what Schneider did at Bradley's Pharmacy.....or got his employer to do.

To hell with all the addicts and to hell with the doctors. Now people who legit need opioids for chronic pain cannot get them because of these lawsuits. I can’t even get tramadol for my two conditions. I’m told to take fricking Tylenol when I can’t hardly walk or move.

The pharmacies and the docs didn’t do any independent research. They accepted what Purdue told them as gospel.

Dr. Jacqueline Cleggett a pill mill doc from New Orleans East who got her license yanked. If you have Netflix watch The Pharmacist.

quote:even though he, his conscience, and lack of will power to fight off his demons were the root cause of his death, OxyContin was the final nail in his coffin, and it killed my father, FAST. he was an alcoholic, had been to rehab half a dozen times for alcohol, opioids, etc., etc., but when he died his autopsy report showed he had zero alcohol in his system --only oxy and a muscle relaxer.
Purdue Pharma, the OxyContin maker widely blamed for fueling the nation’s opioid epidemic.
i remember those days: back when the "war on opioids" was still swimming around in its father's ballsack. back when you would go into a doc office for a head cold and come out with codeine syrup. back when pill mills were everywhere. back when docs saw what the medication was doing to people like my father. hell i could see it and i was a shite eating youngin' full of piss and vinegar, surely professional healthcare providers saw it?
regardless, it's been 19 years but even then on some days i think about what my father would think about my son, and how tore up he'd be with love for his grandson. but those goddamned demons (and ones that were passed down to me) were his life's caboose; not a grandchild and a long, full life.
i remember the rehab visits, the AA meetings, the other addicts and their visiting loved ones, and the tears we all shed for our loved ones and the ruthless worry stemming from a tiny little pill, and even though nobody back then heard, saw or cared to know about our plight and our hell that we were all going through like they do nowadays, even though i've made my peace, i couldn't care less if they hang the sons of bitches who are responsible from their own front porch. the idolatry of money and riches and game and power is the root of all evil. hang them from the giant oak tree that stands over my father's grave. hang them in front of their family like their family hung my father in front of his. frick em.
