I want to go back to when this guy captured our attention. Things were simpler back then.

The Justice Department is expected to announce on Wednesday a settlement of civil and criminal charges against Purdue Pharma, the OxyContin maker widely blamed for fueling the nation’s opioid epidemic.
Terms of the settlement were not immediately clear but likely involves billions of dollars in fines that Purdue will be unable to immediately pay while the company is in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings.
The company is pleading guilty on three counts, one charge of defrauding the United States and two anti-kickback-related charges.
According to the DOJ the agreement does not limit the Sackler family -- which owns Purdue Pharma -- from criminal prosecution and says that investigations are ongoing.
The company could face up to an almost $8 billion fine, according to court documents
A spokeswoman for Purdue Pharma declined to comment but the company had signaled its intention to reach a settlement when it filed for bankruptcy protection a year ago.

The announcement is expected during an 11 a.m. news conference on Wednesday.
Purdue has also been accused of paying kickbacks to prescribers and specialty pharmacies and paying visits to doctors known to write medically unnecessary prescriptions.

frick Purdue and their false advertising about OxyContin being non-addictive.
Seriously, I hope the people responsible for that ad campaign die a miserable death.

Well at least we proved a point by bankrupting a company and pulling fine numbers out of our arse.
Since it was totally their fault no one will ever do opiates again
Right?

Oh you're one of those? Probably don't know shite about this case and what Purdue did.

Ask just about any pharmacist about Purdue Pharma and they'll be the first to tell you they deserve everything coming their way.

I mean, this family is evil, but I don’t see what it has to do with that serial pedophile.

Yep.
And they are still profiting from their crimes with the explosion of cash-only shitty opiate abuse treatment clinics writing for Purdue’s high margin generic Subutex that no insurance covers.
Let’s talk about that.

Why did doctors prescribe and then pharmacists dispense them. If everyone else knew and it was only Purdue that is at fault zero pills would hit the streets.
You are not required to give pills to people. No pharmacy has to fill a script.
Thats the point. It isn't just Purdue. bullshite on that was called when Chinese fentanyl hit the streets.
This is child's play now

Cases like this astonish me. Big pharma ravages a nation causing innumerable deaths, illegal distribution cases and a dozen more life changing examples. Just pay and make it all go away?
I can't imagine how many regular people have gone to jail for possession of a few pills or selling them. Purdue principals don't do a day.

OxyContin isn’t addictive when you have a real disease that requires it just to function. My cousin has fibromyalgia and has been on OxyContin for a while because that’s what works best. When he has his medicine he’s healthy but when he doesn’t his disease debilitates him. He can barely get out of bed, he’s nauseated, sweats all the time, has diarrhea. Maybe you should see first hand someone with a terrible disease before you sue the only company that makes a drug that effectively treats it

Look, I believe addiction is a real thing and admittedly I’ve never been addicted to any drugs but I just don’t see how people do get addicted to drugs. I had surgery a couple years ago and had a high dose prescription of Norco, which is apparently a very strong one, and I had zero feelings of addiction or reliance upon them. Sure, I needed them a few times but I didn’t take half of my prescription. I don’t see how people love that stuff so much.
