What a fricking disaster, and I say this as a 3x Trump voter.

Harry Sissy is the least manly male I’ve seen outside of posters on this board. Tracks that mushroom considers him a real man.

But, he did not say anything about the administrative fee paid out to the Omani and Iranians......for upkeep and maintenance of the Strait of Hotmuz.

And were replaced by the same organization who ran those operations and who is required by their religious leaders to support the same things at penalty of death?
Nothing from a leadership perspective changed except the names.

Are you referring to the idiotic nuclear deal and Uranium One? That’s your example lol I stand corrected. You should ban yourself for that stupidity
You realize that the IAEA confirmed on multiple occasions that Iran had stopped enriching uranium under that deal, right? Iran’s nuclear weapons program had stopped.
What benefit did we get when Trump decided to pull us out of the deal in 2018?

Hmmm ?? wonder what he’s referring to.

VLCC's are going to think twice before getting trapped in the gulf again.
Probably a premium in transport costs.

Well that and several layers of their old regime leadership and proxies are dead. Their army, navy, and air defense is effectively eliminated. Their inflation has sky rocketed, their nuclear capabilities have been completely destroyed…..
But yeah, just like you said…. Nerd
If all of this is true why can't we just beat them militarily now and install a pro western gov?

Remember when people believed he was going to end the war in Ukraine before he even took office?
meanwhile that' still going and he's started another war.
So much winning.
So much winning.

Exactly, he also promised he was going to close the border, but come to Shreveport, Mexicans are everywhere.

quote:We did a lot of damage to Iran, but they took control of the Strait early on and have severely restricted passage through it. (This is exactly what everyone had predicted they would try to do in the event of a war with the US for decades, so your guess as to why we didn't implement a strategy to stop them is as good as mine.) We haven't been able to dislodge their control of the Strait because it's very narrow in places, they're well dug-in in terms of the weapons and boats they use to control it, and the Strait has been mined.
If they are that incompetent, why did it take this long? Why didn't we just blow them to hell (or I thought we did)? So we gave them more money? For what? I don't understand.
The Iranian leadership aren't actually a bunch of incompetent, suicidal buffoon, that was just propaganda to make this war more palatable. Think about it: If they really were all part of an insane, suicidal death cult that couldn't be reasoned with, then why did we send the Vice-president halfway around the world to reason with them? Why are we apparently going to spend the next two months negotiating the fine points of an agreement?
Iran is telling their own people that they've won. They're going to demand reparations as part of their negotiation strategy, but I don't think anyone knows what's actually in this memorandum of understanding.
Here's a sticking point: Iran apparently thinks that this deal involves the Israelis stopping their war in Lebanon, but the Israelis don't seem to agree. No one knows what's going to become of this ir how long this temporary peace will hold.
Other Republicans must have finally convinced Trump of how politically damaging this war and the surge in gas prices has been for them, and he's decided to just declare victory and hash out the details later. I think the odds are decent that we won't find out the contents of any final peace deal until the day after the November elections so that the Democrats won't be able to slam Republicans with its terms. All aspects of the deal will probably stay conveniently murky until then, with both Trump and Iran claiming that they got everything they wanted out of it.

That's a lot of words to say: Trump started a stupid fricking war that everyone except his dipshit cabinet knew was a loser. He won't release the terms of how badly he's going to have shite the bed on this until after the midterms.
If you support/endorse that strategy with your vote, then you deserve everything that happens to you in your stupid life.

Trump stated we are giving them $300B and they can keep the uranium. I believe Trump agreed they can have nuclear weapons as long as it can’t reach us. Iran will reopen the Strait That’s the detailed assessment I saw. It will be released to the public in the next day or 2.

If that is close to the terms then this was all a market pump and dump scheme paired with funneling billions to military contractors.

I thought it was unfreezing of assets not giving like it’s reparations. Same thing Obama did…
Not saying I like it either way but might as well call it for what it is.

sure, although I’m not sure why you’re asking me (other than taking offense to my “Reddit talking points” comment) :-)
And feel free to dig through my post history, I’ve been pretty clear: I’m no fan of foreign wars, especially when we get dragged into them by our “ally”, Israel. frick Israel. I’d much rather the Trump v2 administration focus their attention and effort solely on domestic issues. Nonetheless…
On to your question: What was achieved?
Iran was reminded there are still consequences for funding terror, threatening our allies, attacking American interests, and chasing nuclear capability.
Their military infrastructure and parts of their nuclear program were severely degraded. The debate isn’t whether damage was done, it’s how much. (or how effective said damage is long term)
And now they’re negotiating from a weaker position, which is usually how negotiations with hostile regimes should work.
Did it solve the Middle East forever? Obviously not. But that’s a bit of a childish standard. The real question is whether Iran would be stronger and more dangerous if nothing had been done. The answer is very clearly, yes.
All of which is a stark contrast to the previous administration’s Afghanistan failures. Considering Biden chose the most chaotic exit strategy imaginable, stranded Americans and allies, handed the Taliban a country’s worth of equipment, and then tried to call it a success.
