The guys that line up for free Golden Corral or Outback probably tend to be the worst representatives.

I love my country, I respect the hell out of everyone who decides to serve, but my "question about vets" today is.. I wonder how the families of the people who were killed at the bar in California, by a former Marine, feel

Too bad you weren't in that bar. The world would be a better place without trash like you.

Well if it makes you feel better 99% of the veterans discounts that exists are their because it has a positive effect on the bottom line.
1. Oh you get a free blooming onion, something that costs that business $0.30, and you bring in multiple people and buy drinks and eat.
2. It also has a marketing component to it. We are going here because they support vets.
It’s the same thing with senior citizen discounts. Except the primary thing with them is they have so much time on their hands that they can search for the best deals meaning their opportunity costs is basically nothing.

I think it's nice when stores offer a discount to veterans or active military, but i don't choose to shop there based on that.

"Some" vets huh? How many are in a "some"? Vets aren't the only people that feel entitled about shite......47% of the country don't pay fed taxes.

Edited to say aren't instead of are

Some places offer military discounts and thats cool, some don't, thats okay also. No one should be making a big deal about rather or not a business decides to give a discount.

Yep, no mail or phones for months.

We had one Iridium phone for 800 men...until the HHC Commander thought he knew better than me how to operate it and burned out the sim chip. (I was the S6) I threw his arse under the bus the first chance I got because it took 2 months to get a new one.

I was at a bachelor party in Vegas 4 months after returning from Iraq in 2004. I showed my military ID when the bouncer asked to see ID and got in free at the club in the Luxor. The groom had to pay the $30 cover charge like everyone else.

That was after I almost got a College Station cop fired because he tried to confiscate my military ID at a bar and I called the Ft. Hood MP desk on him.

I think the issue is that a ton of the military does not put their life on the line for our freedom or our country.

We are near a large military town so military members are prevalent and recognizable. Whenever a clerk asks me or gives me the discount I write them in whatever that difference was as a tip.

I.e. picking up at buffalo wild wings, they apply the discount, great, u just got 3 dollars.

A sure sign we're going to see a post bitching about Veteran's discounts.

I do, too.

This said what is it lately with veterans or military who expect discounts everywhere they go. The place I work does not offer discounts for veterans and today had some seem legit pissed we didn’t have any discounts for them on Veterans Day. I mean I guess we just live in a society where all groups of people just expect free stuff or discounts just because.

Sorry a soldier took your girl, baw. It happens.
