One pet appeared to have an infected tooth (red gum, some swelling, tender touch). Our vet called the dentist he uses and the tooth was pulled. The pet became much happier.
A neighbor dentist one boozy Christmas admitted to also being a pet dentist, "but don't tell anybody", so I haven't until now.

My sister is nuts with the dogs and cats.. She and her husband were involved with the dog transport stuff... At one point they had owned 12 dogs and 14 cats... It was ridiculous.. But that's what she wanted.. I can only imagine what the bills were like.. One dog had a tooth infection and the bill was $5000.00.. She had to take money out of her retirement to pay for it... We don't talk about it anymore but I think she has downsized quit a bit since the dogs and cats have started to die off... Same with the husbands...

GTFO with that. Feed her Greenies or something similar.

I guess I'm backwards. But I grew up in the country, and in the country dogs have bad breath. Sometimes their teeth fall out. Then they get old and die. It is the way of things.

Going to the vet is like going to the dermatologist. They are always going to find something that “needs” to be addressed.

That looks like they stole the picture from the Doggie Dentures commercial.

Shop around.

Have two dachshunds. Was going to be $800 to get them both done at our normal vet.

Found one in a small town about an hour away. They did both dogs for like $250

would definitely get another quote. just paid $400 for teeth cleaning and to pull 8 teeth on my 15 yr old Chihuahua. like many have said they will do bloodwork before procedure to make sure nothing should happen from being put to sleep. mine came through his with flying colors. his breath had gotten to point something had to be done. think it built up over all the years even using dental sticks.

Seems harsh, can’t he just brush his teeth?

Must be losing at the track.

Isn’t that like a monster truck payment? He’s probably hard-pressed to score that business.

Do you how stupid you sound putting a dog on a pedestal. This is how you know Americans have too much damn privilege and money .

While the world lives on an average $33/day wage, we are debating should we drop $1000 to clean a dog's teeth.

You can buy toothpaste that cleans the tarter off Amazon. It helps breath too.
