I don’t know if it has anything to do with vaccines. But the lack of any answers on this is frustrating. The percentage of kids with autism these days is unbelievable.

There is no lack of answers.

The diagnosis is being done for a wider number of symptoms; the uptick in rates is overwhelmingly in high functioning autism. Base rates of severe/accute autism are reasonably flat.

There are known genetic elements, though it remains unclear as to how these genes are triggered. This isn't vaccines, its not microplastics, its not a magic ray gun from outer space.

When I was very young I didn’t speak much. My mother asked the pediatrician about it and he said, he can talk , when he has something to say, he’ll say it. I still don’t talk much.

I understand that. I’m just not convinced that it explains what we’re seeing.

What are the 74 vaccines

CDC schedule

Keep in mind some jabs like MMR are 3 vaccines in one shot. DTaP is another multiple vaccines in one jab.

If you add up how many times they recommend getting each vaccine by the age of 18, it is a LOT. 18 alone come from the flu shot.

Go look up what could be autism and now they screen kids at like a year old. The list of things that could be counted as autism is very long. That’s why there is so much more autism now than before.

Unless I missed something, nothing in the original post implied that vaccines were the only potential source of autism.

Much less discriminant, you mean. When they decided that "the spectrum" covered a plurality of human personalities and even moods, the diagnoses shot up.
Wouldn't you want someone on the low end spectrum to know early instead of lingering into adulthood? It helped my nephew a great deal being diagnosed with Aspergers back in the day, we would probably have a lot more adjusted adults that are on the the spectrum now if the same system was around back then.

Correlation doesn't mean causation.

People have always been autistic, they just weren't diagnosed. We can all remember those couple of kids from school who were just off.

It’s great they have the additional screenings and help available. But it simply shouldn’t be compared to previous years diagnoses numbers

Quick, what is the prostrate cancer diagnosis numbers compared to 1920?

1980 is when the DSM-III established autism as it’s own separate diagnosis. It was initially included with schizophrenia.

It was presented as a spectrum of conditions in 1994 with the DSM-IV. In 2013, it became a full spectrum of conditions.

I just looked

It’s 11 vaccines from birth to 7 not counting Covid and flu

Then after that you have the HPV and Meningitis vaccines

So 13 not counting the seasonal vaccines
