Citizens of the state of Virginia may have to start paying the government a fee in order to access adult websites. The Orwellian and unconstitutional bill is being presented under the guise of the prevention of human trafficking. Lawmakers in the state recently proposed Virginia House Bill 1592, which is also known as “The Human Trafficking Prevention Act.”

Advocates of the bill claim that locking pornographic sites behind a $20 paywall will somehow prevent human trafficking. However, the bill has created a great deal of controversy in the state, as many people rightfully see this as an invasion of privacy and an infringement of their rights. Also, there has been no real explanation from the governmentas to how they determined thatpornography was related to human trafficking.

Of course, this won't pass. It is just one of those "Hey, look at me!" bills.

Was anyone else's knee-jerk reaction "What the hell is Veterans' Affairs doing proposing bills?"

Maybe my values are screwed up, but if I was going to have to pay an extra $20 for it, I'd expect something illegal to be going on.

Hopefully an open and shut 1stA case.

Even if you think porn is absolutely sinful and disgusting (my heart and my hand are very divided here), it should be an individual decision whether or not to look at it.

VA just had a bill killed that was taxing streaming services like Netflix. Even the person that introduced it, voted against it. Or so I heard on the news.
