quote:She's really not catching that much shite. The majority of ppl are discussing the fact that she was the MVP of the entire WC. This board and twitter echo chambers are the only places freaking out over her statements on the WH.
And she deserves all the shite she gets for it when she opened her mouth and knelt.

Wait, that interview happen back in January? Seriously?
Rapinoe still stands by those comments and has not changed her mind one bit so what's your point here exactly?

I find I have absolutely no opinion on this.

these girls are the elite in their sport across the world.
And why wouldn't they be? They have the best training facilities, big corporate sponsorships, the best youth girls soccer leagues. Hell some of best players on other countries play soccer in America. They are light years ahead of other women's team worldwide because unlike they beliefs they are not oppressed and they have every opportunity to thrive in this country.

When I first saw a pic of her, I thought she was the coach. She looks like she is in her 50s

Rapinoe wasn't. She scored 6 goals and won the Golden Boot trophy.

By insulting the President and derogatorily refusing to meet with him.
60% of the country insults him on a daily basis. Time to get out more you deplorable turd

She looks like my neighbor across the street, minus the purple hair. She's also a mega bitch.

She didn't kneel during the World Cup.
I don't give a frick.
This still happened when she was "representing" the USA in what's supposed to be an apolitical position. frick her.

She’s going back to coaching high school soccer next week
I agree with Great Lakes in that this is meaningless but it’s easy to see why this instance is worse than Warriors or Pats players refusing to go to the WH

Its funny because if Obama was still in the WH most of this board would applaud anyone sitting out a WH visit.

The very people acting like snowflakes about insults to trump likely called or still call Michelle Obama a man, call Obama a Muslim or terrorist, etc. The selective outrage is comical.
We live in a country where we can openly and loudly call the leader of said country pretty much anything we want to. You can't simultaneously exercise that freedom then criticize another for doing the same and then ask to be taken seriously.

We do that as private citizens or elected politicians of the opposing party, not in apolitical positions like being members of the national team representing USA on the world stage.

Do you want us to treat our athletes like north Korea?

That if she doesn't want to visit the WH. She has every right to skip out on it. It's a bit ridiculous to still be up in arms over a comment made in January. She pretty much backed up her statement with her performance in the tournament.
Also, I'm guessing you didn't flip your shite when a bunch of 2018 US Olympic winners decided to skip a WH visit.
