The only people who think there is a debate between New Orleans and Baton Rouge are people from Baton Rouge. In New Orleans we just kind of know we are better.

FIFY.

Actually in my experience most people from Baton Rouge would agree New Orleans is better on the whole.

The problem is that people from New Orleans tend to have a Texas mentality of "we do everything better, and if something here is bad that's just because it's bad everywhere in the country." And that's just not the case in many instances.

Pretty self explanatory.. it overcame the low affordability score with high marks elsewhere. San Jose has pretty obvious positives along with that negative.

Friend, my point was that with a median housing cost of 880k, 1600 for rent is incredibly cheap, so much so that it doesn't really add up.

Here north of San Jose housing averages 400-500k, and yet rent is around 2500-3000

While most of the list is reasonable, that fact that it has Detroit MI and Bakersfield CA on it makes it complete Bull Sh!t.

Austin at #1? List is shite, Austin's traffic is very nearly as bad as Baton Rouge's.

Seems like all they'd have to do is call 100 people who lived in each city and ask them how they like it. I'd guess 35% of BR residents would say they like living there, and >70% of NO residents like living there

I wonder if Irvine got included with Los Angeles metro because it's usually really high on these types of lists.

Baton Rouge is ahead of NY

So basically, if the metro area is geographically limited or people want to live there, you drop in the list

Houston ahead of Chicago and NY , and I live in Houston

Columbus is at #57

New Orleans real estate market has been slow to bounce back following Hurricane Katrina. Many homes throughout the city remain abandoned. However, the prospect of purchasing property for a below-average price in one of the country's most culturally vibrant cities has drawn many new residents to the Big Easy. But in a city where many neighborhoods are still recovering from the storm and the recession, finding the right real estate agent is key to ensuring that you're making a good investment.

New Orleans is a relatively easy region to get around. The Mid-City and Uptown neighborhoods are each connected to downtown by the iconic streetcar line (Don't call it a trolley!). However, most residents rely on the bus system, which critics say has failed to re-establish neighborhood routes that disappeared in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Most residents rely on cars like their stats say

I'm kind of embarrassed that I have to point this out to you, but "most" is a relative term and it's effectiveness relies on reading comprehension. You failed.

As far as relative terms go, the section of the article is specifically about getting around the city. The way it is used is incorrectly relative to the residents of New Orleans and their mode of transportation.

So no, it is incorrect as most residents do not rely on the bus system. Now if he wanted to use the word more and make the comparison to the street cars, that would have worked.

I didn't fail at reading comprehension, the writer failed at the English language.

That list is terrible. I mean Birmingham is in the top 100 for God's sake. I prefer the mid/small sized city list.
