Maybe in 2010-2011. Austin is getting worse. Portland and San Francisco (never been to either) but they sound like shitholes today.

I’m not going to lie. San Francisco was awesome around 2000-2001. Like shooting fish in a barrel for any decent looking straight guy who wasn’t socially awkward. Haven’t been back since

I love Colorado but the winters are too long.

The winters aren't that bad. I live in Boulder and we do get our share of snow, but unlike the winter weather in the northwest or midwest, the snow melts quickly. It's not that heavy wet snow. Plus there are 300 days of sunshine during the year which helps speed up the melting. It will snow one day and then it will be mild the next.

I guess Charlotte is no longer "up and coming" under the radar.

Was there for 3 years and moved back 18 months ago to be close to family... the quality of life difference is really hard to explain to people who've never left Louisiana.

Has anyone mentioned the fact that Tallahassee is above NYC and Chicago?

Have these people been to Tallahassee?

once you visit other states, particularly non deep south states, it starts to become obvious why Louisiana is ranked so low in many different categories

If Portland would get rid of the bums and protesters it would be an awesome city. Very beautiful place but just walking around you have to step over bums and deal with them on every corner. I’d imagine the suburbs are very nice and the scenery all around Portland is breathtaking in any direction. Mountains an hour away and beaches an hour away.

I go to san fran multiple times a year and never really notice the needles, poop, or everything else this board says about it

Its an awesome place to visit. But it doesnt belong anywhere on this list. It isnt a nice place to live unless you are in the top 1% of income earners

You can send your kids to public school and still work for one of the multiple Fortune 500 companies based there? It’s sad that this is unheard of in Louisiana

I’ve been here 6 years and no major complaints. Is it cool and exciting and a tourist hub? Nah.

Is it a damn nice place to live? Yup.

Economy, climate, cost of living, politics, etc. Combine them all and it’s pretty damn attractive.

Took a drive into the mountains this weekend to see the leaves and grab some lunch. Off to the coast this weekend. All on a tank of gas. Not bad.

Moderate cost of living, very good economy, excellent public schools, low crime, and very clean. Climate sucks and a whole lot of nothing nearby, but generally excellent quality of life

I get it but arctic weather with abject boredom and Chili's v Applebee's does not entice.
