US Mint stealth released 250th anniversary quarter

Apparently, the US mint released 250k quarters with a July 4th privy mark a few weeks ago. They are randomly dispersed -- you cannot just buy a roll like the state quarters. They have been in circulation for a while now. It's a treasure hunt.
So if you've got a pocket full of change, might want to check it. Odds are small but that quarter is worth a whole lot more than $.25.

I listen to a podcast where one of the hosts is in to coin collecting. He has a membership with the mint where, before, you could pay around $30 and get a complete set of all coins that are going to be put into circulation that year.
They announced no more pennies starting in '26, but they are still releasing a penny with that set. He said the price went up to $125, and pointed out they aren't using precious metals in the standard coins anymore.
Coins are serious business.

Cool strategy to get people to pay cash hunting for these quarters in change. Randomly dispersed means just 5 or 6 major cities. If you live in Bunkie you have no chance at finding one.

Hate to break it to you. Most banks will be closed on July 4th since it is a Saturday. Since July 4th is on Saturday, most places will also be closed on July 3rd too for the holiday.

I will be trying to hunt some of these down. I've kept every 1976 quarter I've found and have a decent amount of them. I don't expect they're worth any more than 25 cents, but I like them.

That was my point. All banks are closed on July 4 regardless of what day it falls on. This year it’s on a Saturday so obviously they’re going to be closed on Friday as well.
I just don’t understand what they mean when they say that these will only be available on July 4. I’m not even a coin guy, so I don’t care. It just doesn’t make any sense to me.

It’s all really vague, but I understood it as this 250k quarters have just been released, and the July 4th mark is what makes them rare. Of course they can’t ONLY be available on July 4th. Once they’re put into circulation, that’s it.
