Marijuana users are at risk for heroin mainly because street dealers push both.

ALCOHOL is the gateway drug.
Alcohol certainly is a gateway drug and Honestly, it starts with sugar when it comes to gateway drugs
There’s a process though
When a person experiments with substances, the odds increase that they move into the next stage of that experimentation and when they start it early and before it’s legal the odds go higher.
If a person starts drinking at 16 then that person has a higher propensity to experiment with weed, and then maybe speed, or other level of drug.

So what are the odds it’s legalized federally before the election?

I wish I bought weed stock instead of making a joke in this thread

Sorry but why is the OMB involved in this decision?
If it’s deemed by experts to objectively be less dangerous, then it should be reclassified as such.
Why is the budget office weighing in?

Weed isn’t even on their radar anymore. It would have to be an epic amount being moved to even get their interest up and then it would have to be something that could lead to a bigger prize.
There was an DTO (drug trafficking organization) arrest in jax beach yesterday for mainly marijuana a son mailed from norcal to his mom here. There was a small amount of shrooms, but the marijuana wasn't anywhere near the 100 pound trafficking threshold.

I mean good for Biden I guess? Trump had four years to make it happen but never did so his loss

You can tell it's an election year
yep, and biden will get extra votes from the druggies, who will have a reason to go vote if the DOJ removes recreational weed as a schedule 1 drug
this should have happened 20 years ago, so it is way passed time to do it, but you are right, its only being done because he needs the votes.

They really just can’t accept that the “War on Drugs” has been a massive systemic failure. Give up the ghost, DEA.
they cant do that without giving up their huge taxpayer funded budgets, and they never want to give up that free tax money

the federal classification issue, at its heart, is about the money made from dispensaries cannot be deposited in the bank, because its a federal crime since its drug money.
if they reschedule it, millions of dollars can then be deposited and transacted like any normal retail sale.
right now, people have huge sums of money they must keep in a safe because there is no legal way to put that money in the bank

We should ban oxygen as well then. Everyone of those bastards breathed that it first.

It is not legal, just less illegal. Ooh. How brave and revolutionary.

It also restricts it from a research perspective as well.

Light up a joint in downtown Ruston and just start walking around. Then come back and give us a complete report.
