US District Court in NOLA has stayed a bunch of civil cases where fraud has been alleged.

The basis for the stays is "an ongoing investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office." Basically concerns an organized scheme to stage accidents and profit. Plaintiffs, lawyers and doctors all implicated.

Things are about to get hot in the kitchen.

Hopefully the PR on this, plus a new governor, will finally get tort reform passed in Louisiana. Our tort laws are ridiculous.

Maybe we can get really lucky and the fraudsters are heavily tied to Governor Sloth since he is joined at the hip with the trial lawyers.

You mean the laws that were passed during the last tort reform? What’s so ridiculous about them?

In Illinois, Lawyers are/were allowed to donate to Judges campaign funds, so a Judge didn't have to take bribes, he got them legitimately.

It's why People from around the Country filed lawsuits in Madison County. Some of the biggest cases heard and given big pay days, were from Louisiana residents and Asbestos.

There was a thread about this a while back when some of these lawyers were exposed

I’m pretty sure Vinnie Areona’s name came up

Fixed it for you. But, yes, I do mean our current law. We need to:

1) lower Louisiana's jury trial threshold from $50,000 to $5,000 to bring us more in line with other states.

2) end the collateral source rule

3) remove direct action against an insurer.

These three would go a LONG way toward reducing our insurance rates, which are nearly the highest in the nation so that we can feed Gordon & his friends.

ETA: You must be an attorney because I can't imagine anyone else being against these common sense changes.
