With all the stores pushing 12+ months and zero interest when you use a store card, this doesn’t surprise me at all.

It's a racket I can't out my mortgage on my CC.

Cash back points would skyrocket.

Not me.

If folks ever give up the addiction of credit, their lives become much better and simpler.

surprised it’s that Low.

Yeah, by those numbers, it's roughly $1800/card. Seems like it would be more with amount credit card use I see.

I don't understand how people let their finances get so out of control. I never paid a dime of interest in credit card fees and have a 801 credit rating. It's not that hard to spend within your means.

Does it factor people who pay everything on CC and pay it off each month to get points? If so that’s pretty misleading

This. Also if it includes business credit cards, that's a whole other thing

How do you not pay off your credit card debit every month? Am I a weirdo for using my card like it’s a debit card and pay off the bill in entirety every month?

I pay mine every 2 weeks when I get paid. That way I never forget when it's due and am always ahead.

"The increase in credit card balances is consistent with seasonal patterns but marks the first time credit card balances re-touched the 2008 nominal peak," according to the report.

Important to note thay 870 billion in 2008 is equivalent to 1.06 trillion in today's money.

I'm shocked this clickbait article left that detail out.

With this in mind, I bet you purchase 1.5% (or whatever %) more than you would otherwise.

Why would someone purchase more with a credit card than a debit card?

I just hit $0 credit card/ revolving debt.

I was 18k in that hole at one point.

Dumb young mistake.
