So I ask you nurse. What would you’re plan be to stem the exodus? What is your plan to stop the middle class from fleeing Baton Rouge for LP and AP? What’s your plan to fix the education and crime?

Or are you just here to bash st George without offering any alternative on how to fix the massive problems with the area?

I wish I could sign the petition but I live in Mississippi. I don't think it's going to happen. Seems like Group A is reliant on Group B and are not going to let Group B and its prosperity and tax dollars leave.

That money is staying in the parish, but it’s going to St. George. All I’m saying is, don’t complain about Baton Rouge becoming worse if St. George happens and takes even more resources from it.

The problems aren't as massive as your dramatic arse thinks they are.

Nobody moves to Baton Rouge for work except plant workers. And they have no need to live in st George. Yalls effort is gonna be for not. If it passes it will only have y’all waste a few years in BR before y’all flee as well. Costing y’all to waste money that could’ve been better spent in a house and town worth staying in. I’m from central and live in zachary and I can’t wait to flee zachary.

It's Saturday and I'm just killing time at home.

I have no answers for you.

Imo, sometimes you just have to see the writing on the wall and just GTFO. Move on to greener pastures.

Just because we want something better than the clown show of Baton Rouge, doesn't mean we expect a utopia.

Huge contrast between utopia and something better than Baton Rouge.

I love reading the St George threads. 2 sides bickering like children. No middle ground. Much like Pro-Orgeron vs anti-Orgeron factions.

None of you are going to change the other sides mind.

After all...students should go to their neighborhood schools.

This would be an option if I still lived in Denham, but living in Baton Rouge, I'm forced to send my child to a private school to not become a leech of the system.

So our astronomical murder rate isn’t a massive problem?

Our crumbling infrastructure isn’t a problem?

Our failing schools, aren’t a problem?

Are you fricking serious?

I could give a shite either way on St George but this might be the dumbest thing I’ve seen posted on the subject.

I do not know why the people for "Stay Together" mind if we want to separate. It's like they are admitting that the city needs our tax dollars, and can't function without it. But then argue we can't afford the taxes that St. George would impose. Do these people not realize what point they are failing to make?

To sum up what I (and others for St.George) want, is more police patrolling (The Klienpeter EBR Station is overworked and understaffed to use just one example), better schools (EBR School Board is a joke) and better infrastructure.

Or we could just move to Livingston or Ascension like everyone is doing.

My family was in the same exact situation years ago.

The kids could walk or ride a bike to Shenandoah. We knew all the families. Everyone on the block sent their kids there.

Parents were active in the school. They served as teacher's sides, helped out, and programs were well attended.

We tried public middle schools, but didn't like the long bus ride to the gifted program. There was no neighborhood concept any more. Kids scattered out from McKinley, Sherwood to Southeast Middle.

Thinks got a little hairy so we pulled out kids into private schools. It cost us, but we were well pleased.

And you come to every SG thread, stir it up and make up crap even though you live in the city.

Why do you live in the city? What's bad about others wanting what you have? Why do you and others want to control some of my tax dollars? What are you afraid of?

The Mayor/Council and the majority of voters in EBR have ZERO ideas as to how to make the parish a viable, sustainable and desirable place to live.....it's basically a slow slide down the hill aka virtually every minority dominated metro area in the south !
St. George is in all likelihood, the best/only chance for at least some semblance of a "future" for Baton Rouge !

I would be interested to see how many in this thread actually live in SG. It would be nice to know where you live if it's not in SG. It would provide some context.
