These idiots act like st g is going to be the next Austin, Seattle, Portland. Sorry, but it will still be the same flood prone, poorly kept, and under served part of Baton Rouge. Your property values wont soar. Businesses wont flock here.
If you really want to ask what makes a great city, like the ones above, great then put your political leanings aside and answer honestly.
Creating a new city wont be part of the answer.

Why don't you kick off the answer portion of this?
I have no dog in this hunt I am just curious.

Wrong. The st George police will strictly enforce a “tigerland dress code”

They can't answer honestly because they don't know.
A poster in their proposed city has asked numerous times why he should support it, how it would affect his life and make his situation better than it currently is.
Never gets answers, only downvotes by the SGers

If that's what you truly believe, then you really have no business talking about idiocy. The proposed city is nowhere near the size or population of any of the three cities you mentioned.
The 21st Century model is Sandy Springs, GA.
I highly suggest you watch these two videos to better your understanding (Facebook login required):

still don’t get this whole thing.
Lots of cities have annexed from larger ones. Happens every where.
So my thing would be, why not? Doesn't seem to be a actual legit reason not to, other than it's racist.

Man I think I agree. Everyone I know is all for it but I think it’s because of some hope of a utopia that just isn’t there.

The reason I support the cause is because I have a young son currently enrolled in the EBR school system. He's at a decent school (Shenandoah Elem.) but what happens when he gets to middle school age? No way would I ever consider sending him to any of the public middle schools. So, what are my options? A) send him to private school; B) move to Ascension or Zachary or another district that has decent public schools.
St. George does have a plan - unrevealed, as of yet - to establish their own separate school system. Based on how other districts with similar demographics that have separated from EBR (i.e., Zachary, Central) have performed in regards to education, I am hopeful that the proposed city of St. George schools would do just as well.
Fortunately, I am able to afford a private school for my son, if it comes down to that. But what about the folks who CAN'T afford a private school tuition? They're stuck sending their kids to one of these shitholes that continue to decline, despite repeated promises made by the EBR higher-ups. This is where a new city could help, and be of interest to them.
That's my primary motivation for supporting the cause.

So...what makes a great city? Besides a big population with money, since that’s the obvious answer.

For the record, I am NOT an organizer, just a supporter.

Why can’t it just be the nicer area of Baton Rouge
The problem I have is the bussing in of students from other parts of the parish to attend the "better" schools. In my opinion, students should go to their own neighborhood schools. I don't care what color you are, as long as you live in the school's designated area.
Back on April 27, at the end of the school day at Woodlawn Middle there were three fights, back-to back-to back. Staff had to form a human chain to prevent other students from running to the fights. One kid was taken to the office, then darted out and fought again. Instead of calling the police, they allowed him to leave on the transfer bus and said they'd deal with him when he returned to school.
KEY WORDS: transfer bus
And how about the student vs. custodian fight at Tara HS?
