Something like this and a kid who looks like that, likely Frank Desalvo, Billy Gibbens, Ralph Whalen, maybe Kevin Boshea or Magner to help get it ready for appeal if it's gonna be tried.
My first call is to get Ike Spears as my co-counsel. You need as much political juice as you can muster and there isn't anyone with more juice than Ike when it comes to criminal matters. He can make things work behind the scenes in Orleans Parish unlike anyone else.

It's not an arraignment, it's a first appearance. And that building has like a 92% acceptance rate. Not guiltys on crimes of violence aren't exactly common, and like I said earlier, this is a city where "aint nobody seen shite" in 75% of homicides. Your chance to beat a case here is not getting arrested, with the 18% homicide clearance rate. Once they have you, they have you.

It's amazes me how familiar you are with the details. Were you in the area? Should police be questioning you at this point?
Wait, you're the one who told us he was getting probation, remember? On my side of the argument I at least have a judicial finding.

I think people are kind of steering clear of Ike and Blair for a while after that disastrous Desi campaign and the kind of not-so-hidden selling contracts.
Eta: not saying I have an issue with them, but a lot of people think it was a bit too much in the open..

I've probably prosecuted as many cases in that building as you have seen Law and Order episodes.
With this revelation I would have stopped arguing and starting listening.

I gave a complete guess. You seem dead certain that he kicked him, checked his vitals to make sure he was unconscious and then gave him a few more curb stompings for good measure. All rhe while this guy was sitting on the corner enjoying a tasty beverage and the attack was entirely unprovoked. This kid is fricked. Why even have a trial? I got a rope and all I need is a tree.

And this type of conjecture always turns out as expected, right? Problem is people like me will sit on that jury.

No, what I do know is that a 60 year old was, in fact, curb stomped to death. Eyewitnesses told the police what they saw. The police found Ward drunk as frick in the same parking garage, and he was ID'd by the witnesses. Ward showed up at the jail and wasn't refused and sent to University to get cleared, meaning he didn't have a scratch on him.
A judge has already found probable cause for second degree battery. A different judge has now found probable cause for second degree murder. This innocent patsy hasn't found it necessary to turn himself in yet.
But the assumption that he "probably" did this is (the definition of probable cause) is lunacy. "Innocent till proven guilty" means factual innocence, right? And we should just ignore everything that's there, and assume the eyewitnesses and the police are engaged in a grand conspiracy, until a jury returns the verdict.

No, a person like you is one of the easiest to bait out, engage in one of these little debates, and cut for cause.

This is the only way Ward walks. But I can only imagine how much the state is going to Voir Dire the shite out of jurors to make sure that anyone who is white, conservative, and likely to view Ward in a favorable light is kept to an extreme minority in the jury.
And considering where he did the killing, it will be easy as hell. These are New Orleans demographics. Not Northshore demographics and certainly not North LA demographics.

Are you presently a defense attorney who was an assistant DA in Orleans? I realize you might not be able to say too much.

He is light skinned, but is listed as a black male, at least on what I have.

Yeah, he’s fricked.

You are using Casey Anthony as antidotal evidence while accusing others of watching too much Law and Order?

Turned himself in today according to his friends on this board.
