I am amazed at the organization that went into to this whole thing. The people in charge seemed to have listened to the experts and let them call the shots. From the outside it appeared to run flawlessly.

Can anyone tell me what to happened to the diver that passed away?

Amazing that they were able to pull all this off with only one death but god bless that person and his/her family

The diver ran out of Oxygen was the press release.

We have had some divers on here who check other sites and they may be able to provide specifics with time.

Details are lacking but 1 of 2 possibilities fit with the few details given.

1- he ran out of air in his scuba cylinder while underwater. His buddy retrieved him but was unable to resusitate him.

2- the air in the part of the cave they were in (not underwater) possibly had 15% or less oxygen. He passed out from working in a space with low oxygen and was not able to be revived.

Scenario 1 would be my guess but we were not given enough information to know what exactly happened.

Dr. Harris Father passes away

quote:

The last member of the rescue team to leave the Thai cave, Australian doctor Richard Harris, has lost his father.

quote:

Harris's boss Andrew Peace says in a statement the father had died shortly after the last of the 13 soccer team members was freed from the cave.

quote:

Peace says: "This is clearly a time of grief for the Harris family, magnified by the physical and emotional demands of being part of this week's highly complex and ultimately successful rescue operation."

Truly awful for Dr. Harris & his family, I cannot imagine what that family is going through

quote:

Dr Harris was hailed a hero, having made the dangerous, four-kilometre journey in and out of Tham Luang cave every day to check on the health of the trapped boys.

quote:

Not only was Dr Harris the person who signed off on the health of the trapped boys, allowing the rescue mission to go ahead, he also personally assessed each boy before their rescue to make sure they were well enough to make the journey to safety. He left the cave each day only after the last rescued boy had gone.

The same thing that everyone that loses a father to old age probably does. It’s a pretty common thing. At least he lived to see his son be a hero. That’s more than most can say.

Remember the 33 miners trapped in Northern Chile for 69 days in 2010?

I saw one of the miners on the David Letterman show.

I can see a station flying the coach over for a show.

You think these boys will be well enough to make the journey to Russia this Sunday? You know the World Cup wants them to walk out with the players.

It would be awesome but no dawg, I don’t think so. Health wise they may be ok but I think these kids and families aren’t going anywhere for a while.

If the World Cup final were in 2 weeks, yes.

But not this weekend.

I'm sure cameras will be watching the boys, watching the match.

The cave was minutes from disaster after the last of the Wild Boars made it out: LINK
quote:

Huge pumps -- which had been working day and night to keep the water levels in the cave down -- had failed. The water began rising, as quickly as one centimetre per minute. In a flurry of spotlights, rescue workers began scrambling up the cave, slipping and sliding over rocks and make-shift stairs cut into the mud. They all managed to make it out, but had the rescue of the boys been delayed, or had commanders chosen to extend it into a fourth day, the pump failure could have caused a catastrophe.

Wow. I'm still praising God for this miracle. Those men were born for that moment.

It would be so awesome and incredible for this to happen and for THE WORLD to recognize these kids and the responders

Unfortunately it’s not going to happen unless another miracle happens and I’ll as far as these boys go you never know.

It would truely be a world wide emotional connection event to see them on the field together at the World Cup.

Why didn’t someone check the weather before going into the cave?
