I still don't see how this will help traffic. It'll just stack up further down the interstate. Maybe I'm just ignorant.

Wasn’t there supposed to NOT be a toll?

Well if I recall… both sides (Baldwin & Mobile Counties) fought the toll and won… Gov Meemaw said ok, but the second she was voted back in, she killed it, sold us out and applied the toll. I THINK that’s right, it’s been going on so long that it gets fuzzy.

EDIT: See the link from hellifiknow… it details some frickery.

Five years…LOL… highly doubt it.

Easily achievable. Suspension bridges are much easier to build. The Golden Gate Bridge was built in only four years in the 1930s. The planning is what takes a long time. Sometimes decades. This isn’t a little bridge across da bayou.

I hear ya. They’re gonna bilk us one way or the other… So long as the causeway stays open, I’m good.

Probably will be completed before the Lake Charles i10 bridge.

GOOD GRIEF! $60.00 per month the first 10 years and then it escalates? I will go out of my way to avoid it. I will use the causeway or the Dauphin Island Ferry. It’s a matter of principle.

I will NEVER use that toll bridge.

Dauphin Island Ferry

Now that is a stretch. The ferry is nice, but if you think the toll on bridge will be high, the ferry is obscene.

15 dollars for your car and 6 dollars per person.

So 21 dollars if alone, 27 for 2, and 39 for a family of 4.

Only saving grace for the ferry is that it is a nice ride almost like an amusement park attraction. You can get out your car and go water watching for the 40-50 minutes it takes to cross. So it can be about the same as waiting to push through the tunnel and bayway traffic.
