Athletic Director arrested

Houma Police Department has arrested The Athletic Director of Terrebonne High School.

Joseph Clement, 59, the Athletic Director of Terrebonne High School has been arrested for charges relative to Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile, Sexual Battery, Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and two counts of Prohibited Sexual Conduct Between Educator and Student.

Weeks of investigation led to HPD obtaining a warrant for probable cause. Detectives with HPD received reports of Clement conducting inappropriate behavior with students under the age of 17 at the school where he has been a teacher for several years and, according to HPD, the behavior has been reportedly going on for some time.

Today, HPD detectives contacted the 32nd Judicial District Court and obtained the warrant for the above offenses with a bond of $153,000. Clement was contacted later and turned himself in, was arrested, and was transported to Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex to be booked and jailed to await bond or court.

Two Terrebonne High School employees are under investigation after authorities received a complaint of inappropriate behavior with students, police said.

As of Monday, limited information has been released and no charges have been filed against the two unidentified school employees.

The alleged misconduct occurred on school grounds with students between the ages of 16 and 18, police said. Detectives received complaints about the employees last week.

Both school employees have since been placed on administrative leave, Police Chief Coleman said.
