I haven’t checked a bag in years but last time I did MSY took 45 mins to start the carousel and another hour to finish loading all the bags

Been in an airport lately? Airports are a jobs program for special needs people.
I waited for 20 minutes to board a flight at BTR with the plane sitting right at the gate. The one guy at the airport "licensed" to operate the skybridge was napping it out.

Just check your bags and wait for them at the carousel. It would take less time.
I dunno what you are smoking. 5-10 minutes waiting to deplane (which you can control potentially to even less than that by getting better seats towards the front you peasant) vs closer to an half hour waiting for the carousel

As someone who carries on the vast majority of the time during business travel: I will fight you.

Cool. I’ll meet you at the baggage carousel and we can fight while you wait for you bags.

I agree with the sentiment but I don't necessarily think that's the answer. Unless they completely overhaul the checked bag drop off and pick up process.
You're just trading where you wait (in the plane vs at the carousel).
There needs to better a better system though. Some smaller airlines in other countries still have 2 exits (front and back) and it's much quicker.

Stinking odoriferous Thai food with a family of 8 passing the same plate around. And old crotchety grandma standing in the aisle counting the bites each family member eats. All while that smell wafts in the air near one’s seat.

You don’t have a house full of high maintenance women who pack 18 pairs of shoes, hair care products, specific hair dryers, and other appliances and it shows.

if overhead bins were eliminated it would make me happy. But that’s not the easiest solution.
the easiest solution is to charge bag fees for carryon and make checked bags free. Problem solved, you’re welcome.
enjoy your flight

Layovers need to be at least an hour if you seat is to the rear of the plane to offset the 30 or so minutes to get off a parked vehicle. I agree it can be extremely frustrating at times.

It’s not the worst idea but most airports are painfully slow on getting to baggage claim bins.
Now if the airline manufacturers vertically staggered adjacent or middle seats so if you sit next to 350 lb person you are 2’ above them and it wouldn’t matter I’m interested.

A lot of hate in this thread. Sheesh.
That’s the part I didn’t see anyone else mention. It isn’t just the waiting at the carousel post-flight, it is the time to walk to and drop off the bag at the counter pre-flight. In the best of circumstances it probably adds 15 minutes.

My wife would fight you for suggesting this, no pics.

Yeah frick all that. I’d rather take a couple minutes extra to deplane than deal with all the tards crowding up next to the baggage claim.

Sounds like we need to start putting Sonics in airports.
