When I was a kid, U La La was known as USL. I don’t know (or care) why they changed the name, but I noticed ESPN 7 is all of a sudden calling them “Louisiana.”
I can only assume some screaming Mimi with an “I want to talk to the manager” haircut bothered someone enough to get this new moniker, but doesn’t UL - Monroe have just as much of a claim to the “University of Louisiana” title as the flaming chili peppers in Lafayette? I think we as a state should call ULM “Louisiana” instead of UL-L. Besides, their mascot is a lot less embarrassing.

Would have been good with it just being NLU.
Then again perhaps someone could have tinkered with the name when NLU was actually part of the LSU system a long time ago.

The name will be changed again soon enough . What’s funny is espn calls them by their wanna be name but CBS and every other sports call them by their real name ULL

Yet they refer to the school in Monroe as UL-Monroe. They have just as much right to be called "Louisiana" as the school in Lafayette.

USL has by far the coolest mascot name in college athletics, and they're forcing the wrong thing down everyone's throat.
