Red State legislatures need to get more involved in our university systems. These kind of courses and professors do nothing to prepare our students for real life. Complete waste of taxpayers' money.

Fatmisia is a systematized discrimination that's based on the belief that thinness is superior. It's prevalent in many aspects of society, especially among fat people who have internalized it.

Some say that fatmisia is more focused on the hatred and bigotry of anti-fat attitudes than fatphobia, but it can be less intuitive and may require some defining with each use.
Thinness, to a degree, is scientifically proven to be healthier.

Anyone who states otherwise, IMO, wants these populations to die young.

There’s a lot of dumb sociology classes. I took one at LSU once that was based entirely on sitcom theme songs..

Was it a three hour tour?

Ok. I'm imagining going to college and having a curriculum of classes. I see fat studies as I scroll through classes online. I say, "Huh. Sounds dumb." I continue scrolling through to the classes relevant to me.

Wow. That was a fun mental exercise.

Best psyco-babble word salad that I have read this week. And this is the only salad that these people will make.

I made a mistake in college and took women studies as an elective. It was me and another straight dude. It was mostly females, but not hot females and there were a good 4 or 5 gay dudes. Actually there was one girl who looked pretty good, but she rarely went to class. After about 4 weeks in ne and the other straight started only going 2 days a week, towards the end, one day a week. It was insufferable. Was it easy? Yes, but I felt like the fricking enemy in there.

Just go to the Popeye’s at the intersection of Perkins and Starring for a case study in the intersection of fat and blackness. Save tuition money and eat more spicy chicken.

The course examines fatness as an area of human difference subject to privilege and discrimination that intersects with other systems of oppression based on gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and ability. This course will particularly highlight the relationship between fatness and Blackness. We approach this area of study through an interdisciplinary humanities and social-science lens which emphasizes fatness as a social justice issue. The course closes with an examination of fat liberation as liberation for all bodies with a particular emphasis on performing arts and activism as a vehicle for liberation and challenging fatmisia.
