A pre-med student is suing the University of Cincinnati over a practice of prohibiting male and female students from working in the same group in a physics lab.
Casey Helmicki, a rising junior, says a teaching assistant instructed her to work in groups with solely female students on the first day of a physics lab. The teaching assistant told her, “Women shouldn’t be working with men in science,” according to the lawsuit.
The university maintains that the policy was intended to help female students and was never mandatory, and that Helmicki misunderstood what she was told.
“Physicists are predominantly male,” Bortner wrote in a Sept. 9 email to Jyl Shaffer, the university's Title IX coordinator at the time. “To change this, we try to make the educational environment open to females. Studies have shown that females do better in small lab groups (three or four) that contain more females than males than more males than females. I train instructors who teach the labs and have told them to rearrange groups if there is one female with three males; if at all possible have all-female groups.”

It takes a village to work with chemical equations.

For context, Jyl Shaffer, UC's Title IX Coordinator-

If I was her I would refuse to work with a specified group as well. The original policy is asinine. But why does everybody have to sue? Just bitch to the Dean and they will cower.

I can say with little to no knowledge of this person that this statement was never made.

I'm sure that's exactly how it was phrased.

What women hear v what is actually said is a phenomenon that has mystified humanity since the beginning of time.

I don't blame the student, segregation was outlawed 50 years ago. It was a stupid rule that the college came up with.
If what the university said since blacks have shown not to do well in physics, all Asians must have atleast one black student in their group? Would that me ok?

While studies may show this, it only shows that this is a general rule and may not apply to individual students. If I need help in a specific subject, I am more likely to seek help from the person best equipped to help me regardless of gender.
I hate people sometimes. And these fricktard feminists make people think all women are like this.

FTFY. This didn't start with feminism, it's a pre-med being stupid.
The Title IX people bitching are stupid too; it sounds like a good policy, being implemented in the best possible way, given that a physics prof might not be able to articulate his reasoning efficiently, especially to a stupid pre-med or a stupid bureaucrat.

Good luck getting into med school after filing this lawsuit. No place is going to touch that with a 10 foot pole.
