Good. Assessments like that have been consistently questioned in validity and reliability.

They need to look at the whole picture of the incoming student, not just the assessment scores.

This makes affirmative action less complicated, legally.

Be a good way to boost their state ranking.

If you're mediocre, you don't take the test and enjoy the cheaper in-state tuition.

If you want to go out of state you take the test because serious schools require it. That sample is smarter than the first.

They are basically test to see how you can study for a test

Which given the direction college has been going that's probably not bad way to see who belongs in college

To do well you either have to have a high IQ or work your arse off or both.

How is that a bad thing to gauge?

A lot of schools are moving to get away with it. It started with graduate programs waiving the GRE.

Test-optional schools include the University of Chicago, Brandeis University, the University of Rochester, Wake Forest University and Wesleyan University. Bates, Bowdoin, Colorado, Dickinson, Emerson and Pitzer colleges also don’t require test scores.

Friend,

I have mixed feelings. I got a 24 on my ACT, a 1530 SAT, 37 on MCAT, and Mother told me once my IQ was 165. I graduated from Delgado. The tests show something? I don’t even care about numbers any more.

Yours,

There's a reason why this is being announced right now. Their income is currently in free fall with no end in sight.

You’re right. Why would educational institutions want an accurate measure of intellectual capacity?

Part of the reason schools are doing this is the difficulty of taking the exams right now due to the virus.

You are either smart or your parents could afford a prep class

I am not saying I have any faith in public schools doing a better job of providing indicators. Just that this isn't the end of the world
