United Health Care v. Blue Cross Blue Shield

Last year, my group health was with United Health Care. I had to take some really expensive infusions and my overall medical bills were a little over $1.0m. UHC handled the claims perfectly - no hassle and no issues. UHC approved everything that was needed.
Blue Cross Blue Shield has been ok until today - my RX got declined at the local pharmacy. I called and was told to go to CVS (45 minutes away, shitty service the two x I've been there) or by mail. But, I know the owner of the pharmacy and I want to do business locally. Moreover, when my wife broke her knee cap on a Sunday, the pain killer was called into CVS. I took her home (40 miles) and was told (when I got to CVS) that she had to be at the pharmacy in person because it was a scheduled pain killer (which was NOT their policy).
I know people hate on UHC, but they treated me very well last year.

The closest CVS is 45 minutes away? That almost seems impossible

BCBS with CVS is probably the worst combo imaginable.

That's something that can be sorted with a phone call. Trust me. It's a pain in the butt but you gotta call BCBS. They want your business. I've had medicines just completely not covered. BCBS is top tier/top shelf.

CVS/Walgreens does suck but BCBS is the best. In football terms, they're Alabama.

All health insurance companies suck now that Hussain Bin Obama screwed everything up.

Works flawlessly for me in Gonzales.

Your plan is only as good as your company is willing to spend.
Teachers tend to have the best plan. I know people at BCBS...they don't even get the best plans.
It's your employer that decides benefits, deductibles, etc...again, how much they're willing to pay.

Exactly. And then some groups pick who their PBM is as well, often because it is cheaper for them and more for the member
