Well, they could have driven the 4 flight attendants from Chicago to Louisville for probably $200, now it's going to cost them millions in business and bad will.
Idiots.
Idiots.

However, LoRusso questions if United Airlines was within its legal right to ask flight 3411 passengers for their seats because standby crew should not have priority over paying customers.
“Were we really dealing with selling more tickets than we had seats? It doesn’t seem like that’s the case, at which point the overbooking protocol seems to be unwarranted,” LoRusso said.

I just provided you the quotes to the policies that would be listed in dealing with a situation similar to this
But you didn't care to read the article

There's lots more today too.

I've had some bad experiences with United and to be honest, I'll very likely do whatever I can to never fly with them again after this story.
I can understand that.
I was thinking about a status match with them from Delta, but not anymore.

I've hated flying United for a while. I love flying Alaska and Southwest.
I wish we had a nationally subsidized flag carrier like other countries. Those airlines are superior.

I was switching from AA at the beginning of this year after they treated me like shite on about 5 different trips and was deciding on UA or DL. Chose DL and am actually pretty content with them so far, UA is going to have to do some serious PR damage control with this. There's a ton of memes out there now that are hysterical

Kind of a 180 from his stance yesterday. A good company and a good CEO would have reacted this way a lot quicker.

The problem is this dude went full retard and doubled down.
No one is going to take him seriously.

You just don't get it baw. The airline can state that all monkeys must be pink from here on out. There is right and wrong though so monkeys will remain their normal color.
You obviously have a long history of working for airlines. Your mantra of "Their policy is a gift from God" has been droned into you for so long that you are unable to separate right from wrong.
These motherfrickers were wrong from the get go, up the side, 'round the back, and through the middle. You no longer have the ability to even question their actions.
I am as sad for you as I am for the battered Asian man. Can we call him Tempura from here on out?

It boils down to:
A. Inconvenience one guy
B. Inconvenience 100+ people that were flying out of Louisville the next morning

It actually comes down to United finding better ways to get their crew around that doesn't involuntarily effect the consumer.

I get the logic, and the motivation. Beating the shite out of someone is more than an inconvenience though.
United should have sweetened the voucher deal until another volunteer came forward - and they should have done it at the gate before everyone boarded. That's how they should handle these situations.

United has re-adjusted its policies and is adding to its free onboard amenities.

Would just be cheaper to give a better voucher deal until another of the 100+ passengers volunteered to stay behind.

How dare you hold the actor in this situation with all the power in this situation accountable rather than some randomly chosen person just trying get what they paid for.
