I need a repairman for an undercounter icemaker in and around Baton Rouge/Ascension. I called a few appliance repair places and they aren't familiar with them. I ran the clean cycle on it for the first time and now it doesn't work. I ran the diagnostic series, but it is fairly tricky determining what the actual issue is.

Undercounter icemakers are a pain in the arse. But I see that you are realizing that.

Sounds like an actuator. Is the cylinder coil cool to the touch?

What exactly is the problem? Is the water not cycling? If not my guess is a bad solenoid that signals the water to cycle. Its a fairly common issue.

Also, how old? They have a 3 or 5 year warranty often times.

My parents have one. POS breaks once a year.

If i need a bunch of ice I just go to the gas station down the road and buy a couple bags for $2.

Yeah, but for everyday cocktails, it's so nice. (When it works)

OP I hope you have a warranty. repairmen and repairs for an ice-maker cost almost the same as buying a new one. Search YouTube for you make and model and it should be able to walk you through fixing it if you are even remotely handy.

Did you buy it from ADL? If so, they have their own maintenance department and are pretty familiar with them.

Icemaker in fridge makes plenty for everyday use.

I had the same issue with mine, but in New Orleans. Once the problem happened, I went a year w/o turning it on. Eventually I called an an appliance store and asked them for a recommendation on who to call. The guy comes out and hits the on switch and it worked. I re-ran the cleaning cycle a few times and popped in a new filter and I've been going strong now for a month or two.

Good luck, these things are fickle.

Tiger94, what brand is it and how old is it? You have to clean these things routinely.

Fridge Mfg's need to come up with a way to put the sonic ice makers in refrigerators.

Always keep the warranty on the ice machine. Extend that son of a gun out as long as you can because they break more often than anything. Solar refrigeration has fixed ours Numerous times

OT:
You need to try 2" cubes. The tray is rubber(?) and makes eight cubes. Slow melt, perfect for sipping whiskey.

We get ours from Sonic and it's $2 bucks a bag.

I assume the Sonic employees fill the bags to be sold from their machine?

I just don't know if I can trust the cleanliness of the guy or gal who gets the job of filling a bunch of bags of ice at 6am.

That happened to me one time and I called Appliance Distributors to get a repairman out. They told me to first try leaving it unplugged for about 24 hours and then see if it works. Well, it started working after doing that. Don't ask me why that worked.
